Gerald Hatt Obituary
Gerald L. "Jerry" Hatt; age 79 of Freeland passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 peacefully at Stone Lodge Memory Care of Shepherd with family by his side. Jerry was born December 10, 1942 the son of Howard and Doris (Bonham) Hatt. He enjoyed tinkering and was always playing the harmonica. He loved to "junk pick" and auctioneering with his brother-in-law and good friend Jack Nicklyn. Jerry served in the Navy and served in Vietnam. He also served in the Army National Guard and served two tours in Desert Storm. Jerry retired from Midland Hospital where he worked for over 30 years. Jerry is survived by 6 children Curtis Babcock of Gladwin, Jennie (Alan) Frizzell of Dillon, SC, Sonjya (David) Rossow of Freeland, Lynda (Joe) Balhoff of Mt. Pleasant, Brian (Trisha) Hatt of Midland, and Mark Hatt of Hendersonville, TN; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sister Linda (Bernie) Beyer of Midland; sister-in-law Ida Hatt of Flint; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded by his wife Jackie Schoop and wife of 47 years Marie Hatt; grandson David Frizzell; brother Jack Hatt; and both his parents. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. The family would like to thank Stone Lodge for their loving care. Memorials can be made on behalf of Jerry to Stone Lodge. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.

Jerry was a lovely man and quite a character. I will never forget the many days of us walking the mall as he played his harmonica. What fun! Rest in peace dear Jerry.

Sending prayers of strength and hope to Jerry's family. I had the absolute pleasure of working closely with Jerry at the hospital and will always remember him as a jolly, witty and humorous guy that referred to "Mrs. McGillicutty" often, where ever she is, always willing to help in any way needed. May his family be surrounded by warm memories of him. I sure will.
