Janet Sue Allen, 75, of Rhodes, died Saturday, October 15, 2022, at her home. She was born January 6, 1947, in Rhodes, 1 of 12 children born to the late Frank and Francis (Hathaway) Currie. Janet was a 1964 graduate of Pinconning High School. She met her future husband, Loyde Allen, at the Estey Supermarket, while he was working. She was married to Loyde in Midland on July 11, 1964. He preceded her in death in 2016.
Janet was a proud Home Health Care worker and being a caregiver was a calling, as she truly loved her profession and the people she helped. She was also employed at various bakery around town and at the Pinny Food Center. Janet had a passion for crocheting and made one for almost all her family members. She also loved spending time with family and friends, and especially her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her children, Brian (Shari) Allen, Brenda (Troy) Clark and Juanita (John) Maxson; grandchildren, Adam (Mallory) Allen, Josh (Emilie) Allen, Haley (Ryan) Sperry, Nicholas Clark, Melinda (Brian) Makl, Rebecca (Gus) Hassiotis, Denten Maxson and Brittany (Zac) Glass; 17 great-grandchildren, her brother's and sister's and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Janet was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Amanda Allen and Travis Clark; sisters, Susie and Zelma.
Funeral services for Janet will take place at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home 1200 W. Wheeler St. Jim Hoggard will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery. Janet's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3-7 P.M. and on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until time of service.
