John Cardella Obituary

John Cardella, 88, of Greensburg, Pa., and formerly of Midland, Mich., died Monday, March 23, 2015 in the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of Greater Pittsburgh in Greensburg. He was born Sept. 9, 1926 in Greensburg, a son of the late Ralph and Jenny (Basile) Cardella.

John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, class of 1951. After graduating he taught school in Monongahela, Pa. from 1951 to 1956. From 1956 to 1962 he worked for Elliott Company in Ridgeway, Pa.

After 1962, he went to work for the Dow Corning Corp. in Midland, Mich. for 30 years. John also served in World War II in the Philippines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Watson and Rose Cardella; his brothers, Alphonso, Louis, George and Michael Cardella.

He is survived by his wife, Eva M. (Passarelli) Cardella; sons, Dr. John F. (Kay) Cardella of Bloomsburg, Pa., Mark A. (Laverne) Cardella of Palo Alto, Calif.; grandchildren, Drs. J.T. (Stephanie) Cardella of Chapel Hill, N.C., Michael Cardella, of New York City, Bryan (Linda) Sapena of Palo Alto, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, John Christopher and Emma. He is also survived by six sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Emily Gennaccaro, Mafalda Arrigonie, Carmella Rock, Lucille and Jon Fink, Marie Cardella and Carmella Cardella; and many nieces and nephews.

Honoring John's wishes, cremation has taken place with no public visitation and services. Burial will be private and at a later date. LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC. of Greensburg, Pa., are in charge of arrangements. www.bachafuneralhomeinc.com.
