John Kemp Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Howard Kemp, beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to so many. A former Nanaimo resident for many years, Howard passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4th with his children at his side.

Born on February 28, 1919 on the family homestead near Kisbey, Saskatchewan, Howard moved to Nanaimo in 1952, where he resided until 2007, when he moved to New Westminster.

Predeceased by his wife, Edith Jean (Morris), Howard is survived by his three children and their partners: Donna (Murray Cottell), Don (Lori), and Bob (Doris); five grandchildren: Josie Fullarton, Christina Cottell and Stephanie Cottell, Jesse Kemp, and Riley Kemp; five great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard will always be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his immense generosity and his unwavering faith in God through even the toughest of times in his life.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Royal City Manor in New Westminster, for their gentle care and support for Howard as he dealt with failing health in the last several months of his life.

A Celebration of Howard's Life will be held on Sunday, October 13th at 2:30 pm - First Memorial Chapel. 1720 Bowen Road (off Townsite Road).
