John Saul Obituary

John Andrew "Andy" Saul, 97, of Midland, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his daughter's residence in rural Van Buren, Ind. He was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Harrison.

Andy graduated from the Harrison High School Class of 1933. He married his sweetheart, Anita Mavis Smalley, on Aug. 18, 1942, in Clare. They were married for 66 years. He was a farmer until he was 40 years old. Following that, he worked at Holley Carburetor for 10 years and retired from The Dow Chemical Co. after 15 years. Andy loved gardening, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include daughter, Ellen (Jesse) Moon of Van Buren, Ind.; granddaughters, Ellen (Chris) Rice of Huntington, Ind., and Susan Mallernee of Fort Wayne, Ind.; granddaughter, Amy McCreery of Muncie, Ind.; three great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; caregiver, Tom Prill of Auburn. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Saul; mother, Gertrude (Hoover) Saul; his wife, Anita (Smalley) Saul; infant son; sisters, Mary Saul and Erma Glander; and brothers, Leman Saul, and James Saul.
