Joseph Patton Obituary

Joseph Patton
The Patton Family has lost our dear brother, Joe. He will be missed. But now he is with Mom and Dad, and we now have peace of mind knowing that his suffering he endured is over.
Joe was born in The Soo (Sault Ste. Marie) on February 25, 1957. He was the youngest of 4 children. He was Mom's "Baby" which we teased him about throughout his life. We all moved to Midland in 1966. Joe attended St. Bridget's, Northeast, and Midland High School. Growing up he worked at Emily Gibbs, Sanford Park Maintenance and the City of Midland for 27 years. He held various positions, waste and water department, parks and recreation, and he drove the Zamboni at the Community Center Ice Rink. We often proudly told people about the Zamboni job for many years. He also liked to joke about the sanitation job with flushing the toilet and saying "see ya later."
Joe was a free spirit, one of a kind, a fine and sensitive person. He loved his dog Yukon, and later his cats Buckshot and Little Pete. He was also a big sports fan, enjoying the play of the game. He loved his Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, and MSU. But most of all, he was a huge fan of the Grateful Dead, which he qualified as a True Dead Head. He was in his happy place at their concerts.
"Fare thee well our brother, fare thee well our one true friend" -The Grateful Dead.
Joseph is survived by his sister Carol Miller (David); his brothers Brent Patton (Chris) and George Patton; his niece and nephews Jeff Patton (Nancy), Jay Patton (Mary), David Patton (Amanda), Amanda Turner (Jarrad) and Eric Moore (Sara); and his grand-nieces and grand-nephews Ben Patton, Zach Patton, Will Patton, Vivi Patton, Penny Patton, West Patton, Leo Patton, Lorelei Moore, and Corbin Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip Edward and Georgianna (Kemp) Patton.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland, Michigan. Family will greet guest from 2:00 PM until the start of the memorial service.
Memorials to the Humane Society of Midland County or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.

We have great memories of Joe and the Patton family from the Love Street days. Nobody could organize a neighborhood picnic like they did.

Great times with Joe will always be remembered wether it was in the dune buggy, mg, or van we put on many miles. Rest in Peace.
