Larry Parsons Obituary

Larry Parsons
Larry Allen Parsons, 65 of Wheeler, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home. He was born February 14, 1956, while his parents were on a bike trip to Wisconsin. The late Gerald and Betty (Brandt) Parsons safely got their baby boy home to Midland where he stayed. Larry attended Meridian Schools until he was ready to move on to bigger and better things. He decided to become his own boss and ran several successful companies. Larry was a bike enthusiast and rode anything including Harleys, Hondas, and Indians. He loved the freedom of being on the road and traveled anywhere and everywhere he could. Larry loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his happiest times were spent camping. Almost nothing gave him greater joy than being out in the open air especially near water. Swimming was one of his favorite activities and if his lodgings on his travels did not include a pool, he wasn't staying. Larry was spontaneous and never did anything by the book. This was evident in September of 1998 when he married the former Mary Poindexter. Nothing says true love quite like pulling your future wife out of work to go get hitched quick. The love of his family is what kept Larry moving and he always tried to make sure they never wanted for anything. His caring and kindness was also extended to others in need especially around the holidays. He taught his children that giving was better than receiving and Larry gave so much more than anyone could ask for.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Parsons; children, Jerami (Shelly) Banks, Randy (Amanda Murry) Parsons, Nichole (Christian) Shaw, Carl (Amber Mosher) Parsons, Christopher (Jackie) Thurlow, and Heather Thurlow; grandchildren Carl Parsons Jr., Anna Fohs, Chase Thurlow, Donythyn Dietrick, Nevaeh Post, Renee Parsons, Taylor Post, Isabelle Nickell, Remyngton Clish, Alexis Thurlow, Emma Nickell, Karson Post, Chevylle Thurlow, Michael Banks, Bernadette Banks, James Banks, Sadie Shaw, C.J. Shaw, and Saylor Shaw. He is also survived by his siblings, Don Parsons, Ruth (William) Franklin, Sherri (Larry Crosby) Corner, Brian (Serepta Feldman) Parsons, David (Heather Peer) Parsons, Richard Ray, Tom Shauger, and Danny Dice; brother-in-law, Ron June; and ex-wife, Carla Parsons. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother Steve (Kay) Parsons and sister, Connie June.
Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2021 from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street, with burial to follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Larry's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Larry was a spur of the moment person. If he got something in his mind he was gone. He loved his bike. Loved the outdoors, campfires and drinking a few beers and sorry telling. Tried to always make a good outcome from a bad situation. Larry will be missed dearly.
