Leon Doty Obituary

Leon L. Doty, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, in Dade City, Fla.

He was born in Isabella County on Oct. 26, 1918. He was the oldest child of Nelson and Sylvia (Arnold) Doty. He moved to Florida three years ago, after spending winters there for many years. He worked many years at the Studebaker garage in Mount Pleasant, owned a Sunoco station in St. Louis, a gas station/fishing store at Higgins Lake, and retired after working for the City of Midland.

Leon was a member of the Michigan Travel Trailer Club, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Army in 1944/45 and earned a purple heart during the Rhineland Campaign.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Leah Dale and Jim Patton; granddaughter and husband Lori and Dan Jackson; great-grandchildren Keith and Caitlin; his brother and sister-in-law Arnold and Ellen Doty; sisters-in-law Anna Jane Burdette, Iris Doty and Etta Doty; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Essie Woodruff and Clara Johnson; his brothers Carl and Merle; his first wife Alma; and his second wife Pauline.

No services were held per his wishes.
