Maria Timmers Obituary
Maria Johanna Timmers, 87, of Midland, died Monday evening, March 7, 2011, at Brittany Manor Nursing Home. She was born on March 15, 1923, in Gemert, Noord Brabant, Netherlands, daughter of the late Herman J. and Elizabeth (Geurts) Reijnen. Maria immigrated to the United States in 1954 and on May 4, 1954 was united in marriage to Harry J. Timmers in Combined Locks, Wis. She made habits for the Norbertine Fathers and was employed with W.A. Close where she became the head seamstress, retiring in 1984 after 17 years of service.
Along with her husband, she moved to Midland in 1990 to be closer to her family and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Harry, of 54 years are her two sons, Francis J. and Debra Timmers of Midland, and Fr. Jozef P. Timmers OFM Cap. of Tocumen, Panama; grandchildren, Margaret M., and Nicolas Butko of La Jolla, Calif., Henry R. Timmers of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Francis Reijnen of Canada, Koenraad (Gerda) Reijnen of the Netherlands, and Herman (Johanna) Reijnen of Canada; sisters, Johanna (John) Vanden Akker of the Netherlands, Petronella Vile of Canada, and Henrica "Riki" Reijnen of the Netherlands; sister-in-law, Maria Reijnen of Canada; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; one brother, Harry Reijnen; sister-in-law, Petra Reijnen; and a brother-in-law, William Vile all preceded Maria in death.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011, from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Maria's son, Fr. Jozef Timmers, OFM. Cap., and Fr. Pete Gaspeny will con-celebrate. Entombment will take place next week in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Appleton, Wis.
Maria's family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., on Friday, from 2-4 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the liturgy. A vigil for the deceased will take place at 4 p.m., Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Beste Harry en kinderen,
Van harte gecondoleerd met het heengaan van je vrouw Maria. Ik wens je veel sterkte en kracht voor de komende tijd. De laatste keer dat ik jullie ontmoet heb was ik de Timmers Reunion 1986 te Appleton.
Toen ik bezig was met het Timmers-boek heeft Maria gezorgd dat jullie gegevens in het boek kwamen.

Enza and I used to sit in front of Maria and Harry at Sunday masses and after they moved out to Stratford Manor I used to see them at the mass offered by Blessed Sacrament out there. There were a lovely couple and I'm sure Maria will be greatly missed. As we are still currently out in Arizona for the winter we are not available to attend her funeral.
