Mary Schultz, 93, of Saginaw, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at Tendercare in Midland. The daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Lenio) Yaruczewski, Mary was born June 9, 1918, in Syracuse, N.Y. She married Stanley J. Schultz Sr. on June 24, 1939, at St. Rita Catholic Church. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 2003. They were married for 64 years.
Mary was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church and a life member of its Altar-Rosary Society, the St. Josaphat Home and School Association, the Legion of Mary and the League of Catholic Women. In 2007, she moved to Midland and made her home at Washington Woods Senior Assisted Living Complex, where she became a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church.
Surviving are one son, two daughters and their spouses, Stan and Joyce Schultz of Saginaw, Kathy and John Smith of Midland, and Mary Jane and David Yatch of Saginaw; six grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Amy Schultz, Stacie Schultz and her fiance Greg Meter of Saginaw, Jason and Valerie Yatch of Saginaw, Jeff Smith of Midland, Amy and John Sosville of Colorado and Jared Yatch of Mackinac Island; nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Laura and David Schultz, Ava and Alexis Yatch, Austyn and Andrew Smith, Anna and Flynn Sosville; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Bastuk, Jane Barnovitz and Ann Cichowski.
The funeral liturgy will take place at 12 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012, at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 207 Ashman St. in Midland. The Rev. Fr. Patrick O'Connor will officiate. Interment will take place at 3 p.m., Monday at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., between Shattuck and McCarty in Saginaw, where the family will be present on Sunday from 1-7 p.m., and at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of mass. The St. Josaphat Altar-Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 3 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. There will be a vigil service at 6 p.m., Sunday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Brigid Building Fund or Heartland Hospice.
