Mary Martha Hughes Stevens, 77, of Midland, Michigan died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 1st 2023. She is survived by her children, Amy and Peter, and by her grandchildren, Ella and Seth. Mary was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, with her loving parents, James and Gerda and sister Elizabeth. After graduating from Michigan State University, she married her lifelong partner and soulmate, Tim Stevens. They were married for 52 years before Tim passed away in 2019. A steadfast champion of women's rights, Mary was a social worker and volunteered to help women in need. Mary cherished close relationships with many friends over the years and was still making new friends up until the very end. Her hobbies included classic cinema, gardening, and collecting antique dolls and toys. She was a member and frequent contributor to the Timbertown Dollology Club of Saginaw, Michigan. Mary's joyous spirit, unique style, and unwavering love will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. The family thanks the many loving caregivers, friends, and relatives in Michigan and Ohio who helped Mary in her final years. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family encourages well-wishers to donate to the Shelterhouse of Midland and Gladwin Counties in Mary's honor.
