Mary Warne Obituary

Mary Louise "Mickey" Warne
Mary Louise Warne, age 90, passed away on May 7, 2024, surrounded by and assured of the love and affection of her family.
Mary Louise married her longtime sweetheart, Robert M. Warne, on September 10, 1955, and they shared 74 years together. Throughout their marriage he lovingly called her "Mickey". He survives and together they nurtured and loved their three children, Susan, Sarah and Thomas.
Mary Louise was born on January 18, 1934, to Richard W. and F. Lucille (Bellinger) Swinehart in Midland. Eldest of three siblings, she graduated from Midland High School and went on to earn a degree in Physical Chemistry at Michigan State University, graduating in 1955. She began her career as a bench chemist with Dow Corning, ultimately abstracting and translating chemical journals. Later, she applied her skills and knowledge on quality control for Diehl Foods.
Mary Louise possessed tenacity and great curiosity. She brought the eye of a scientist to any problem or plan she worked on within the community or in her home. Eschewing the spotlight, she was most satisfied knowing her contribution. She felt that one of the more important things she was involved in, with a group of like-minded visionaries, was the formation of the Defiance Ohio Area Foundation.
Mary Louise is survived by her husband; children, Susan (Bruce) Dunek, Dr. Sarah (Jeffrey) Yoest, and Dr. Thomas (Yi) Warne; natural, adopted, and step grandchildren, Daniel Yoest, Mary (Matthew) Evrard, Phillip (Merissa) Dunek, Jessica (Steven Thomspon) Dunek, Dr. Tracie (Jason Katcha) Dunek, Dr. Laura Dunek, John Warne, Chao (Elaine) Warne, Robert Warne, and Macy Warne; seven great grandchildren, Palmer, Lydia, and Heidi Evrard, Alison and Natalie Guse, Micah Kieckhefer, and Elsu Dunek Thompson; and brothers, Dr. Frederic (Carole) Swinehart and James Swinehart. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary Louise and Robert were an exceptionally supportive couple, making every success of their children and grandchildren a family joy. She was a loyal friend and a devoted family matriarch.
A private tribute will be held by the family with interment at Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd, Michigan.
Memorials may be made in memory of Mary Louise Warne to an organization of the donor's choice.
