Melva Fales Obituary

Melva Marie Fales, 80, of Midland, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Bay Medical Center in Bay City.

She was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Midland, to the late Oscar and Beatrice (Vinson) Geiling. She married Frank Furst, the father of her children. He died in 1984. Melva loved her cats, playing cards and listening to her records. She enjoyed playing her piano and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Diana and Moose McNett of Sanford, Beverly and Ronnie Evans of Southside, Tenn., Sharon and John DuBois of Midland, Janet Love of Midland, and Yvonne and Paul Vougtmann of Linwood; sons and daughters-in-law Frank and Sandy Furst of Kalkaska and David and Diane Furst of Sanford; sister Norma Johnson of Midland; stepsister Viola Wright of Midland; half brother Clarence Weiler of Escondido, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by grandchildren Megan Furst and Steven Wetzel; son-in-law Mike Love; sisters Helen Schofield, Donna Koontz, Rosalia Evans, Madeline McNett, and Lynn Hendershot; and brother Gerald Weiler. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Funeral services will take place Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, 4 p.m. at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home. Pastor Judy Suderman of the Midland Bethel Church of the Nazarene will officiate.

Members of Melva's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
