Stewart Turner Obituary

Stewart "Stew" Turner
On Saturday, February 13, 2021 Stewart "Stew" Turner, beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather finished his race. He left quietly from his home, holding his wife's hand with family around him. He let go, stepped across the finish line into the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He was finally able to experience the long awaited embrace of Jesus surrounded by the presence of God's glory. Stewart Manley Turner was born October 13, 1935 to Lawrence and Martha (McFate) Turner in Detroit, Michigan.
Stew proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. After serving, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marilyn Louise Dresser on August 10, 1957. Stew worked as an insurance agent for over 30 years, 18 of which was with Allstate. While this was his career path, his life was truly defined by serving God through his faith, loving his family and volunteering with many organizations throughout his years. In addition to raising their own children, Stew and Marilyn were foster parents and host parents to several foreign exchange students, and still treasure the relationships they have with them. Stew was a dedicated Chaplain, worked in prison ministry and enjoyed his time spent with CMA- Christian Motorcyclists Association. He also volunteered in disaster aid, served on many mission trips with his church and volunteered with several local Christian organizations in his community. In 2015, Stew was able to go on his lifelong dream trip to the Holy Land to tour and personally experience Israel. In his time here on earth, Stew made a difference by sacrificially serving and giving of himself to others which will be remembered by many.
Stewart is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 63 years, children; Sheryl (Rob) Robbins, Susan Owens, and Sara Basore; 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the rest of his extended family and dear friends that have become "family" over the years, all whom he loved deeply. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Martha Turner; his sister, Patricia Hendry; his brother-in-law and close friend Lloyd Hendry.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Midland First United Methodist Church located at 315 W. Larkin Street, Midland, 48640. Per the family's request we are asking that people wear bright colors to celebrate Stewart's life. I will always remember our summer excursions to the "The Turners" ....We always had the time of our lives on the lake. We looked forward to it every year. Stew always showed great patience with the swarm of noisy Bowmans'. He was always generous, friendly and treated us like we were his own. He could fix most anything our eyes. He was a genius. Thanks to both Marilyn & Stew for all the good times! Godspeed!

Stewart Turner was a faithful husband who dearly loved his wife Marilyn, their three daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Stew has completed the course and finished the race here on Earth and has gone to be with The Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ, receiving rest for his soul. He will now spend the rest of eternity with his Savior and Lord in the presence of his Father in Heaven, no longer to be separated from them. My prayers and thoughts are with you Marilyn and your family that Christ would comfort your hearts and give you peace.

Stewart Turner was a lifelong friend to the entire Bowman Family. Us boys always looked up to him as a father figure and a man with great conviction. Stew has now completed his mission here on earth and has joined the ranks of God’s Army in Heaven. March on Good Soldier - Until We Meet Again - God’s Speed To You and May You Rest Peacefully.
