Susan Wallace Obituary

Susan E. Wallace, 61, of Midland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the MidMichigan Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born June 10, 1951, in Petoskey, daughter of Jc and Doris (Howard) Fike. In 1969, Sue graduated from Bay City Central High School. She married James M. Wallace on Oct. 18, 1986, at Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church in Midland.

Sue spent 20 years working for the Bailey Insurance Agency and as senior regent in the Midland Moose Lodge, where she had served as office manager and was instrumental in starting bingo at the Lodge. She enjoyed bowling, golfing with husband, Jim, and friends, trips to East Lake in the U.P., while doting on her beloved dog, Maggie. Sue was involved in many organized fund raisers at the Moose Lodge and the American Cancer Society, breast cancer and Relay For Life. Christmas was Sue's favorite time of the year. She enjoyed shopping and wrapping gifts for her nieces and stepgrandchildren, who she loved dearly.

Sue is survived by her husband, Jim; parents, Jc and Doris Fike all of Midland; one brother, Jerry A. Fike of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Patricia (John) Barnas of Lansing; nieces, Laura Lloyd and fiancé Dr. Frank Caputo of Kenosha, Wis. and Julia Lloyd of Lansing; stepchildren, the late Duncan (Deana) Wallace, Ben (Linda) Wallace all of Midland and Cameron (Bud) Hines of Lansing; stepgrandchildren, Brent (Jill) Wallace of Midland, Troy (Megan) Wallace of Pittsburg, Pa., Leontine Wallace of Ann Arbor and Marlette Wallace of Owosso; stepgreat-granddaughters, Maggie, Landrie, Avita, Sophia and Norah.

Memorial services for Susan will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. The Rev. Dr. Rhonda Myers will officiate, with private inurnment at Midland City Cemetery. Susan's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society (breast cancer) or the charity of their choice in Susan's memory.
