Thomas Plamp Obituary

Thomas Plamp
Thomas Wallace Plamp, 64 of Sanford passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, at his home in Sanford. He was born December 3, 1956, in Saginaw, son of the late James and Katheryn (Crum) Richardson. Tom grew up in Midland and graduated from Dow High School. In school he was always athletic, participating in cross country and track. He continued his education receiving an associate's degree from Delta College. On November 30, 1985, Tom married the former Penny Myers, and together they raised four children. Deciding they were better as friends, they parted ways while still working together as parents.
Tom was not only proud of his family he was raising but also of his career. He was employed at W & W Tool and Die in Midland for over 30 years as a tool and die maker until his retirement in January of 2021. Family always came first to Tom and there is nothing he loved more than spending time with each of them.
When he was younger, he competed in cycle racing, loved to go boating and play softball. He also enjoyed going to Old Town, Florida where he would go fishing for sharks. and playing with his big "Sand Box Toys", that included dune buggies and dump trucks. He will be remembered as a laid-back person, that loved helping anyone in need. He liked to remind everyone that he was "like a mushroom … a fun-gi"!
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Krista (John) Goergen, Kelly (Doug) Ross, Trevor Plamp and Tiffany (Michael) Plamp; grandchildren, Izaac Goergen, Tristan (Kari) Ross, Braxton (Destiny) Ross, Kolton (Kelli) Ross, Preston (Shelbi) Ross, Julien Plamp, and Chloe Ballard; 12 great-grandchildren; long time companion of fifteen years, Brenda Wood; one brother, two sisters; best friend since high school Kim Talbot and too many close friends to mention. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren Korrine St. Dennis and Dalton Plamp.
Cremation has taken place and the family will hold services at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Rett Syndrome. Contributions can be made online at Rettsyndrome.org. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home.
