Virgilene Tolly Obituary
Virgilene Marie Tolly, 91, of Midland, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023 at Avielle Haven in Midland. Loving Wife, Mother and Stepmother. She was born on February 8, 1932 in Gladwin, MI to Roy and Goldie (Fetterolf) Ballard.
Virgilene, (Bee, as she was known by friends and family) enjoyed sewing, knitting, and playing piano. She graduated from Beaverton High School and worked as a Telephone Operator for Michigan Bell Telephone in Clare, MI and then came to Midland where she worked and retired from Midland Public Schools. She was a member of Aldersgate Church.
On July 24, 1955 she married Richard S. Tolly who preceded her in death as well as her parents, brothers Wayne Ballard and Clarence Ballard and her sister Twyla Card. She is survived by her sister Lucile Reid. Her children Paul (Mary Ann) Tolly, Brad (Annette) Tolly and Audiene Tolly, Dan (Sharon) Tolly, Dianna (Tom) Williams, and Karen (Bob) Ewald. Numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on December 4, 2023 at Aldersgate Church in Midland with Pastor Michael Sawicki officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until time of service at the church. Virgilene will be laid to rest at Midland City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Alzheimer's Association Michigan Chapter and/or Avielle Haven in her honor.

My late wife June and I met Bee and Dick when we moved to Midland in the late 70´s. Thru June´s working with Bee at Midland School and singing with Bee in the Aldersgate Church choir we become long time friends. We continued visits over the years we were away. When we moved back in 2016, Dick had passed but we continued to take Bee to lunch when she lived at Colonial Villas. They were great friend and will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Bee at Midland Public Schools. She was one of the kindest, most caring individuals I had the opportunity to know and work with. My sympathy to the Tolly family.
