Charles E Jewell, affectionally known as "Pops," entered into his eternal heavenly home from Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Center at 7:08 p.m. July 8, 2024. He was at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 20 days. He was born at Riverside Hospital in Paducah. He was the son of the late James W. Sr. and Novella Ruth Jewell.
Charles was of the Baptist faith and accepted Jesus Christ at the young age of 17. He was a 1965 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. At the age of 18 he was drafted in the U. S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from USEC as a maintenance mechanic in 2004.
Charles loved to fish, camp at Kentucky Lake and spend time with his loving family. He was an avid UK Basketball fan. His greatest passion was his excellent knack of BBQing, and of course, his three beautiful grandchildren.
He is survived by the love of his life, Josie Jewell of Paducah; his two daughters, Christie Troutman and Jaime Jewell of Paducah; his three grandchildren, Hannah Troutman, and twins Sydney and Hayley Troutman of Paducah; his granddog, Frankie James; two brothers, James Jewell II (Sandra) of Custer and Harry Jewell of Elizabethtown; four sisters, Donna Smith of Paducah, Debra Jewell of Paducah, Janice Grass (John) of Elizabethtown and Tammy Helm of Elizabethtown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Paul, Richard and Ronnie; and best friend and son-in-law, James "Jamie" Troutman.
The family would like to thank Mercy Health Lourdes ICU, PCU and fourth floor staff, Parkview nursing home, Fresenius Kidney Clinic on Southside and the Ray and Kay Eckstein inpatient hospice center for the wonderful and compassionate care they showed our loved one.
There will be no funeral service per Charles' request.
