Ethel McElroy O'Nan, 94, of Paducah, died at 12:07 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at her residence.
She was born in Paducah on March 20, 1930, to the late Noman Jasper McElroy and Mary Mathis McElroy. Ethel retired from Baptist Health Paducah Hospital, where she worked in food service. She was a lifetime and faithful member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Janie (Gary) Lamb of Paducah, Joan (Charles) Long of Sikeston, Missouri, Lynda Hatton of Paducah, Leslie (Jerry) Teer of Paducah, Margaret (Robert) Brumfield of Murray, and Claudia (Dwayne) Burrus of Brookport, Illinois; sons, Dennis O'Nan of Paducah, Kentucky, Leonard (Barbara) O'Nan of Madisonville, Kentucky and Raymond( Tammy) O'Nan of Kuttawa, Kentucky; sister, Ola Mae Hoard of Paducah, Kentucky; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 22 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse O'Nan; daughter, Paula Ford; son, Ralph O'Nan; son-in-law, Mike Hatton; daughter-in-law, Linda O'Nan; grandchildren, Gary Lamb, Jr and James O'Nan; sisters, Mildred Nace, Clara Wilson, Mary McElroy, Gladys Matthews and Lenora Gleason; brother, Johnny McElroy and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Thomas More Catholic Church General Fund, 5645 Blandville, Road, Paducah, KY 42001.
