John Dixon Williams, 83, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Mercy Health Lourdes. He was born on Aug. 22, 1942, in Union City, Tennessee, to the late John Thomas (JT) and Mable Lee Stewart Williams.
John served as vice president and general manager of WPSD TV from 1964 till his retirement in 1998. He was also very active in the community, serving on numerous boards and associations. John was a board member and past chairman of the Paducah Junior College Foundation, past president of the Paducah Chamber of Commerce, and a past board member of the Kentucky Chamber Executive Committee, and a past board member of the NBC Sports Affiliate Board. He was also past chairman of the McCracken County Public Library Board, past board member of the United Way of Western Kentucky, past board member of the Yeiser Art Center, past board member of the Paducah Country Club Board, and President of the Meadow Links Condominium Association.
John was recognized for his community service by receiving several distinguished awards, including being named a Kentucky Colonel and a Duke of Paducah, and the Paducah Distinguished Citizen Award.
He was of the Baptist faith. John enjoyed playing golf and watching the University of Kentucky Basketball.
John is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyce Thornton Williams; daughter, Nancy Williams Black, and husband, Chris, of Paducah; son, Thomas Dixon Williams of Paducah; grandchildren, Kirby Black Priebe, Madeline Allyn Williams, Jamie Marie Black, John Quinten Williams, and Kennedy Reese Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
