AMERICUS, Ga. - Kate Weil Morton passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at the Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus on Nov. 11, 2025.
She is survived by her only daughter, Lucy Lee Morton of Orlando, Florida, her sister, Lucy Weil Paxton (William), and her former husband and dear friend, Billy Wayne Morton. She is also survived by her niece, Christina Cassetty, and nephew, Hank Paxton, and several other nieces and nephews, and many others who called her "Aunt Kate."
Kate was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on Jan. 25, 1956. She lived her early years there until she moved to Southwest Georgia to follow her passion for walking horses and bird dogs.
A Celebration of Life was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors in Albany, Georgia. The family received friends at Kimbrell-Stern before the Celebration of Life. Kate will be taken to Paducah for interment services at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Temple Israel Cemetery in Paducah.
