Keaton Pierce Obituary

Keaton Ford Pierce, 31, of Paducah, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Baptist Health Paducah due to complications brought on by Acute Pancreatitis. He was born Sept. 3, 1990 in Paducah. He undoubtedly entered life exclaiming, "Hello, World. Here I am!"

From an early age, it was clear he was moved and inspired by music. Motivated, vivacious and relentless in all of his pursuits, he had the most determined spirit and often ended tasks as a child with, "See, I told you I could." At just two years old, he stood in front of an entire church of people and sang, "Victory in Jesus," from start to finish. As an incredible writer, whether in school or music, he excelled at putting words to paper, even those difficult and scary to say, in a way where he not only bared his soul, but actually lived out his truth and feelings both written and spoken.

He was a 2008 Honor graduate of Calloway County High School and attended Murray State University. He was a member of Sharpe Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. He was employed with Triangle Insulation in Paducah, but his greatest accomplishment in life is the legacy he leaves behind as a musician.

Keaton started making music with the band, "Cascades" in 2011. In early 2014, they rebranded as,"Too Close to Touch" and signed a record deal with Epitaph Records, going from local band to professional musicians almost overnight. In 2015, they released their first record titled, "Nerve Endings." However, it was the second record, released in Spring of 2016, that mirrored the true heart of Keaton. Teaming with Producer Erik Ron, this record was written and recorded during possibly the hardest time in Keaton's life, having just lost his younger sister, Eiley Joy. Keaton and Erik would sit and talk for countless hours, pouring Keaton's heart out onto paper and later putting his words and emotions to the music. The entire record became a tribute to the immeasurable love and loss of his sister. "Haven't Been Myself," which included the track "Eiley" was released in 2016. It broke the Billboard Top 200 charts and reached millions of people all over the world.

Keaton rose as the founder and frontman of an award winning band with well over 100 million streams across multiple platforms, too many performances to count and as an inspiration to so many other artists in the industry, newcomers and veterans alike. He made countless friends along the way, touched and helped mend the hearts of thousands and "was the best brother and band mate, the guys in Too Close could ask for," in the words of his band mates.

Relationships were everything to Keaton, and in 2018 he was honored to record and be a guest artist for a charity record for the Jed Foundation, a non-profit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation's teens and young adults, giving them skills and support they need to thrive today and tomorrow. The band chose the song,"Let It Be."

During their first "Warped" tour, they won "Best Underground Band" at the "Alternative Press Music Awards." Keaton and the band would go on to play hundreds of shows including a sold out headlining tour, the 2017 Slam Dunk Music festival in the U.K., and the 2017 Warped Tour. Keaton would also proudly dawn the cover of the Alternative Press Magazine 2017 Warped Tour cover alongside other up and coming stars in the industry.

Although music was one of his greatest passions, it was his family whom he loved the most. He was so excited to relocate to Paducah in Spring of 2021 to be closer to them. Incredibly deep feeling, sensitive and compassionate, he loved his family with his whole heart. He held a great love and respect for his dad, but was truly a mama's boy and held many late night conversations with her, which will forever be cherished in her heart. He shared a special relationship with his brothers and absolutely adored his little sisters. Profoundly touched by adoption, it shaped so much of who Keaton became.

Keaton is survived by his parents, Roger and Vicki Pierce of Benton; two brothers, Evan Pierce (Jessie) of Murray, KY, Shea Pierce (Emily) of Centerton, Arkansas; three sisters, Molly Kate Pierce, Callie Beth Pierce and Ansley Grace Pierce of Benton, Kentucky; one niece, Lacey Ann Pierce of Murray; maternal grandmother, Doris Weatherford of Almo; several aunts, an uncle, cousins, and his beloved dog, Emmy. He is also survived by his Too Close to Touch Band family, Kenneth Downey, Mason Marble, Travis Moore and Thomas Kidd who were truly his family away from home. He was preceded in death by his little sister, Eiley Joy Pierce; paternal grandparents, Frank and Clara Pierce; and maternal grandfather, Jesse Weatherford.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at New Harmony Baptist Church, Benton with Scott Penick, Roger Pierce and Chris Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Cemetery, Hardin. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2022 and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.

Because of Keaton's great love and passion for helping others, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jed Foundation.

It's very late but Keaton's music and livelihood has reached and lifted me in so many unbelievable ways that he is everything I could ever dain to be as a person or artist, we truly are in lacking of our world now that his voice and beliefs can't be heard anymore.
I take solace knowing he at least will be able to embrace his sister now.
My condolences to his family, friends and brothers in Too Close To Touch.
Years later I hope you are still moving strong.

I couldn´t believe this was real when I was told about your passing today so this was truly a hard read. I never had the pleasure of meeting you but as a vocalist the same age as you, it felt like you were someone very close to me with how much your vocals & lyrics would uplift me through hard times. I was hooked the moment I heard your voice to the point I remember the road my friend was driving down on a beautiful sunny day when he introduced me to your guys music! I never knew how much you actually made an impact outside your music for this world until I read all this; from your faith to supporting mental health in the ways you did is beautiful! I pray your family is doing okay as you & your sister watch over them from above. Thank you for everything you gave this world - you will truly be missed Keaton.

You Keaton w/ the help of ur band brothers, as Too Close to Touch, literally touched so many ppl throughout ur life be it as short as it was. With the voice of an angel all it took was 1 single listening of your music for me to be HOOKED and a fan an admirer for life! U were never afraid to put ur truest feelings out there, to the world, for all to see/hear. Refusing to conform to any 1 style or sound reguardless of the consequence yet always managing to stay on top an relevant in the scene. You had the the ability, an nerve, to always tell the truth in ur music, never afraid of popular opinion and in that captured the hearts and minds of so many souls in this world. Ur lyrics helped so many individuals thru so many hard times. The music industry will simply never be the same w/out u an ur amazing God given talent. Ur ability to bring all sorts of ppl, from all walks of life, together in celebration of ur art work will sorely be missed. The question now is wat will we do w/out the voice of Keaton Pierce, thru TOO close to Touch, to get us thru our most tuff of times in our lives? How will we cope w/out ur voice guiding us thru it all? Will we be able to move on w/out his courageous words, wisdom, and the heart felt lyrics that guided so many individuals. As this time I cannot be sure wats to come. But wat I can do, wat I can say in confidence..... wat I can tell u is I will always hold a place in my heart for u an ur music. An wit that use ur lyrics&musical as a tool. A gospel, to guide me thru life like a crutch, but one that I use wit pride an a smile on my face. And I will always do my absolute best to spread ur message of love, care, compassion, an understanding thru the spread of ur amazing music, which taught me to love an respect myself and others. Showing me we all go thru it sometimes but to chin up an always keep moving forward. That Noone can walk over me, my heart, or my emotions, and that I MATTER! To plant my feet an stand fast an proud for wat I believe in no matter the consequence. To never give up on myself family or friends, and to always give others the benefit of the doubt. To strive in trying my best to always be myself whether or not everyone around me like it, and to always try my hardest in being the best me I can be w/ the notion of there's always room for improvement, knowledge, and love in everything I do, am or will become in this life. I can only hope in the ability of carrying these life lessons u've ingrained in my heart an soul into whatever comes next after this life. So thank you Keaton Ford Pierce, u were 1 in a billion! To his parents an family I'd like to say this... The brightest flames may always burn the quickest, but remember they are the few who accomplish the most. They are the few who help shape the world around us and for the better. Without them the world would be an empty place. So when u think of ur beloved Keaton, do not cry any longer for ur lost son, yet smile. Smile an take comfort in knowing his spirit and legacy live on, and will continue to do so thru those whom Keaton so effortlessly influenced with positivity and love with his caring words and warming heart. Please take comfort and solace in knowing a small piece of him, thru the infinite spread of his inspirational poetry an music, now resides in us, his fans and admirers. Know that being in his presence was a gift few parents have the right to bare in this life. Wear his name, Pierce, with pride. Treat being his parent an family as a badge of honor. Rest easy in knowing that even tho his light no longer reaches us in person it will continue to be felt by millions both now and in the future. An most of all I want to thank you for raising such a wonderful human being. And I think I can speak for us all when I say we are here for u and even tho we haven't had the pleasure of knowing u personally, my and everyones hearts go out to u and we all have nothing but love an administration for the family and friends of Keaton Ford Pierce. God speed Keaton, and keep a seat in the concert hall where ever u may be open for 1 of ur biggest fans. With Love and Sincerity Alex P.

Hello. I just wanted to say I didn't know Keaton personally, but I loved his music and I could tell by his writing and just his personality that was brought even into his music that he was such a genuine nice guy, and I really wish I could have met him at a meet-and-greet even just for a minute to say hello because he just seemed so sweet and was clearly a very caring person. I felt like I could really relate to him in a way, because I lost my identical twin sister, and I told him on twitter and he said he was sorry, and that meant a lot to me for him to respond, and I wish I could have given him a huge hug of both thanks and comfort. I could tell he was very down to earth and just sweet and humble, and he loved what he did and everyone in his life; his family, friends and fans. I wish he was still around, not just for the music but for his personality because the bit of it I saw in interviews and tweets was awesome and genuinely kind and very creative. I'm so sorry for Keaton's family, and I along with many other fans miss him even if we didn't know him personally. I'm near crying as I write this, because the obituary was beautiful and he had a great impact on many of us and even though I didn't know him, I miss him. Rest in peace, Keaton. You were taken from the world far too soon. <3
