Wanda June Sons, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born December 30, 1938 in Fulton County, Kentucky to the late Lester Wilson Sons and Sara Ellanora Myatt Sons. Wanda was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota and went to Murray State. She retired from Mary Lee Cravens Elementary School after 31 years. Wanda was a member of the Owensboro Retired Teachers Association and Kentucky Teacher's Association. She was also a Kentucky Colonel. Wanda was a member of Lady's of Faith and also a member of Good News Jail and Prison Ministry support team.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Max Sons on March 8, 2007; and a sister, Annie Christine Sons on August 1, 2002.

She is survived by her Kappa Kappa Delta sisters; her church family; friends, Roxanne Kirk, Jeff Miller, and Anna Kluck, who was like a sister; and her 4-legged companion, Little Bit.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
