Marlene Griffin Obituary

Marlene Griffin, 73, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at her home in Paducah. Marlene was born on May 23, 1952, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Edward and Arvella Kiel.

Marlene's professional life was marked by over two decades of dedicated service in sales with Sears, Roebuck and Company. Beyond her professional endeavors, Marlene had a unique and admirable talent for refurbishing furniture, pouring her heart and soul into every piece she touched. Her particular affinity for chairs was well-known, "she never met a chair she didn't love." Marlene was also a well-known figure at the Paducah Antique Mall downtown, where her booth stood as a testament to her talent and passion.

Her artistic flair was but one aspect of her rich life. Marlene was considered the "CEO of her family," a title she represented in the highest regard. Her innate ability to lead, care for, and unite her family was a source of strength and comfort for all. Marlene was always the first to offer help to anyone in need, and her selfless acts of kindness made a difference in many lives.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband of 50 years, Trent Griffin of Paducah; her daughters, Gina Stewart (Scott) of Gallatin, Tennessee, and Julie Martin (Christopher) of Kevil; her sisters, Merrily Lindquist of Greer, South Carolina, and Marcia Stiles (Tom) of Austin, Texas; her brother, Jim Kiel (Cyndy) of Birmingham, Alabama; her grandchildren, Dane, and Charlee Martin; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, John Lindquist.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah, 120 Memorial Drive, with Carlin Brooks officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
