REEVESVILLE, Ill. - Nancy J. (Thorn) Wright, 73 years, of Reevesville, passed away at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
Nancy was the oldest of five children born to Billie Thorn and Imogine Taylor Thorn on March 27, 1950, in Paducah, Kentucky.
On Dec. 23, 1995, Nancy was united in marriage to James M. "Cotton" Wright in Paducah, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2023.
Nancy is survived by her stepchildren, Rhonda (Junior) Wright, Wanda (James) Terry, Cindy (Kent) Todd, Tracie (Chris) Garnett, Ashley Wright, and Glenn Wright all of Paducah, Kentucky; and James (Theresa) Wright of Peru, Indiana; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Fulton of Paducah, Kentucky; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Nancy is also survived by her two beloved canine companions - Dixie and Toby.
Along with her parents and husband, Nancy is preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Thorn and Kenneth (Rose) Thorn; a sister, Tansie (Jackie) Blasingim; as well as a brother-in-law, Otis Fulton.
Nancy was a graduate of Reidland High School in Paducah. Following her graduation, she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lourdes Hospital. Later in life, she worked in the kitchen at McDonalds in Metropolis.
In her free time, Nancy loved quilting and crochet.
Nancy was a member of Eastside Holiness Church in Paducah.
A service honoring the life of Nancy J. Wright will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Wayne Hicks will officiate. Interment will be at Reevesville Cemetery.
There will be a time of visitation held prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
