Shirley Hook Turley, 89, of Paducah, passed away on Friday, Dec, 13, 2024, at her home.
Mrs. Turley was born on May 9, 1935, to the late, B.B. Hook Sr. and Euple Hopkins Hook in Paducah. Shirley was a retired clerk for Gore's Foodland and of the Baptist faith. She was a scorekeeper for many baseball games, an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and loved to dance.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 72 years, James Arvil Turley; four daughters, Debbie Turley Ballowe (Tom) of Eddyville, Kentucky, Karla Turley Synan of Paducah, Sherry Turley Shaffer (Ricky) of Aledo, Texas, and Lori Turley Hooper (Jay) of Paducah; a son, Rocky Turley (Vickie) of Paducah; 13 grandchildren, Jessie Grizzle (Kevin), Brittany Star Eckelkamp (Zeke), Thomas Colby Ballowe (Kate), Zane Stanfill (Lyndsey), Corey Turley, Patrick Turley, Chris Chastain, Ryan Smith, Justin Shaffer (Jamye) Jeremy Shaffer (Christen), Jonathon Shaffer (Lindsey), Jay Miccah Shaffer (Brittney), and Jodi Hooper; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Hook Hite of Wasilla, Alaska; two brothers, Jerry Hook of Greenville, Tennessee, and Danny Hook (Diane) of Parrish, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Gloria Jean Hook; a brother, B.B. Hook Jr.; two sisters-in-law, DeeAnn Hook, and Peggy Hook; a brother-in-law, Louis Hite; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
