AMEILA ISLAND, Fla. - Stuart Sinnott Billington, of Amelia Island, Florida, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Oct. 17, 2025. He was born on Jan. 12, 1941, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Dr. Charles B. and Dorothy S. Billington.
Raised in Paducah, Kentucky, Stuart graduated from Vanderbilt University and later built a long and successful career as a municipal bond broker-dealer. He spent his adult life in Louisville before retiring to Amelia Island, Florida.
Stuart is survived by his loving wife, Nancy P. Billington; his children, Scot Sinnott Billington (Kelly), Anne Billington Adair, and Nancy's daughter Elizabeth Skelton Boland (Brent); his sister, Claire B. Key (Dan); and his brother-in-law, Vance Taylor (Anita). He was the proud grandfather of Evan, Liam, and Lucy Billington; Rex Adair; and Whit (Charlotte), James, and Stuart Boland; and brother to the Rush Nicholson; extended family and uncle to beloved nieces and nephews.
Known affectionately as "Tootsie," Stuart will be remembered for his wit, warmth, and love of backgammon, bridge, the Kentucky Wildcats, and the St. Louis Cardinals. His kindness, intelligence, and humor touched everyone who knew him.
A remembrance gathering will be held at the Pendennis Club, 218 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, Kentucky, on from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19.
