Arthur Doten Obituary

Arthur Kent Doten, born April 30, 1961 in Fairfax, CA, lived most of his life in Watsonville, passed away peacefully the morning of August 22, 2025, having been surrounded by loved ones following a short illness.

Arthur "Art", a self-employed landscaper for over 45 years in Watsonville and surrounding area, was also a softball coach for over 30 years with PV Girls Softball League and several of the local high schools, earning coach of the year award in 2018.

Art leaves behind his life partner of 33 years, Gina Ruiz; and her two children, Sean and Bryanna Villareal; grandchildren, Benjamin Villareal and Theo Rodriguez; his sisters Janet Doten, Linda Andrada, and Nancy Trevino; his five nieces and their children; his "softball daughter," Monique Martinez; along with extended family and close friends. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Martha Doten.

A viewing will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 5:00pm – 6:00pm, with a remembrance of Art's life starting at 6:30. Burial service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00am at Valley Public Cemetery. More information can be found at: www.mehlschapel.com.
