Arturo Plascencia Obituary

Our very own Arturo Luis Plascencia was called home to be with the Lord and his lovely wife, Melody Faith Plascencia, on Monday, November 15th, 2021 while at his eldest daughter's home in Redmond, Oregon. He had been in a long, difficult battle with Primary Lateral Sclerosis for quite some time.

Arturo was born in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, but also lived in San Francisco, CA for a short period of time, until he finally settled down in Watsonville, CA where he met the love of his life and only wife, Melody Faith Plascencia. The newlyweds later put their roots down in Las Lomas, CA where they raised their three children, Donovan, LaDonna and Leilani, until they relocated their family to Aptos, CA, and eventually migrated north to Bend, OR.

He attended Watsonville High School Class of 1981, and shortly after found his path as both a construction worker and custodian for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District-a position he held for 20+ years, all while working 12-16 hour days, 5 days a week, and still found time to spend the weekends with his wife and kids. Arturo had always been a hard, dedicated worker and provider for those he loved.

Arturo will long be remembered for his stern, but loving and caring spirit, plus his one-of-a-kind sense of humor and outgoing personality that put a smile and long-lasting impression on those around him. He absolutely loved his Oakland Raiders and truly enjoyed his times at the Oakland Coliseum with his son, family and friends that became blood-he would wear his RAIDERS gear daily with pride. Others would also say that he was by far the neatest, cleanest, and most meticulous person they've ever met, which is why he was given the nickname, "The Winkler," inspired by Henry Winkler's character, "Fonzie," in the TV series Happy Days. Lastly, he could always be counted upon as a pillar of strength, support, and guidance, even during tough circumstances when times were not ideal, and was viewed as a father figure to many in his extended family who loved him as such.

Arturo was a truly loving dad, grandfather, brother, son, and friend, and will be joining his dedicated wife of 29 years, Melody Faith Plascencia in Heaven; he is survived by his three beloved children, Donovan, LaDonna and Leilani, his grandchildren Julian and Kingston, plus his mother Ines Plascencia and 3 siblings Olga, Juan and Jessica, in addition to more than 20 nieces and nephews (and counting).

A private gathering will be held to celebrate the tremendous life of our admirable Arturo Luis Plascencia on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at 1pm at one of his family's favorite places, Seacliff State Beach in Aptos.

Rest in Peace and Save A Place for Us, Dad--WE LOVE YOU!
