Craig George Obituary

Craig George, who spent most of his life in Watsonville, died peacefully at home on July 15, 2025, after bravely coping with Parkinson's for nearly a decade. Having served as student body vice-president, Craig graduated from Watsonville High School in 1959. His degree in Radio and Television came from San Francisco State, and he served as supply officer in the Panama Canal Zone for the U.S. Navy. Craig worked in the advertising department at the Register Pajaronian for 29 years and created a weekly cartoon for the paper during football and basketball seasons featuring Willie Wildcat. Craig taught Sunday School, led youth groups and served as Elder for the Presbyterian Church in Watsonville and Auburn, CA.

A man of many talents, Craig loved nature, drawing, researching, writing, traveling, camping, collecting, and playing board games. He was loved and will be remembered for his good sense of humor, loyalty, reliability, and for quietly going about doing good without expecting much recognition. Craig leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Dana (Rugh); three children, Jennifer (and her husband, Robin), Jeremy (and his wife, Kelli), and Grant (and his wife, Jessica); five grandchildren, Maddie, Violet, ZiLong, Daxx, and Logan; and a brother Bryce George. Craig will be missed in too many ways to list.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Watsonville, on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 1:30 pm.
