Frank Valdivia Obituary

June 21, 1978 - January 29, 2023

It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Frank. He transitioned into the next realm on Sunday, January 29th while at home.

Frank was born on a sunny morning on the first day of summer in 1978 in Lancaster, California. Two months later he was brought to Watsonville (Corralitos) where he spent his childhood and teen years. He graduated from Aptos High School in 1996 and attended Patten University. ?Frank moved to Santa Cruz and in 2001, he welcomed his first child, Kayla and the next year in 2002 another daughter, Alicia. They were his pride and joy, and in his words, his greatest achievement.

Frank worked in the restaurant industry in Watsonville and Santa Cruz but in the last ten years was a project manager for various companies. He was very happy and fulfilled at his last place of employment, Moriarty Roofing.

There are not enough words to describe the beautiful human being that was Frank, Pancho, Panchito, Chito, Francis, Frankus, Frankenbrain,... Always the clown and jokester, always giving and helping family, friends and neighbors in need. He loved cooking and baking and would share his culinary creations with others. He assisted incarcerated men with Spanish/English interpreting and translations of documents. He tutored Cabrillo College students who needed help in Algebra. He would often jog or bike along the ocean, taking pictures of the waves, the sunrises and sunsets. He often said, "I'll never leave Santa Cruz!"

Frank is survived by his daughters, Kayla Valdivia and Alicia Valdivia; his beloved son, Sinatra the cat; his mother and stepfather, Rebecca Valdivia-Casey and Patrick Casey; his grandmother, Cristina Valdivia; brothers, Richard C. Valdivia and Philip Godoy; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves many, many treasured friends. A heartfelt thank you to Aly Tamboura, Alex Dominguez, and Jennifer Davis for your love and support to Frank throughout the last year(s).

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard A. Valdivia and his Tía Irma Garcia. A Celebration of Life will be held for Frank in June. If interested and for future information, please email [email protected].

The Golden Bowl of Life

Left between the rows of words is empty space,
left to fill with humility and grace
and for you the pull of own thoughts
drawn on the canvas of the soul

by spacious and unfathomable oughts
all gathered in the golden bowl
of life, le bonheur de vivre,
for you to fill and live in full.

And so the candle burns,
it knows what's waiting is the urn,
and so it shines at night brightly

to celebrate its wake lightly
in empty space so full of grace
stretched on the canvas of the soul.

My heartfelt condolences, Francisco.

I knew Frank from Alex, my nephew, and from work. He was so funny, kind and very friendly. Always shared his humor and baked goods. He was caring and helpful. I am going to miss seeing him. Francisco was such a nice person. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel in the loss of my godson, Frank. I cherish the memories of his childhood, of his many antics and much laughter, and his generosity to me in so many ways. Physically he is gone, but the memories and the love last forever.
Love you always, Nina Mercy
