Maria Farias Obituary

Maria Guadalupe Farias died on March 2. She was 76.

Mrs. Farias was born on Feb. 4, 1945 in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico to Gregorio Ramirez and Estefania Sanchez. At 17, she was married to her husband of 50 years, Ignacio Farias Sr. At the age of 19, she moved to Watsonville and found work as a strawberry picker. At age 20, she began to raise her family. She was a great cook and enjoyed going to church on the weekends. After 40 years, she retired at age 56. She helped her children raise their grandkids and loved being around family. Mrs. Farias was a grateful person who appreciated her life. In her free time, she liked to watch her novelas and sow.

Mrs. Farias is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three sisters, a brother and four children Javier Farias (Yesenia), Angelica Farias, Ignacio Faria Jr. (Lilia), Zenaida Farias (Ricardo Gutierrez). She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous others.

A visitation was held on Thursday at Mehl's Colonial Chapel. Mass will be held today at 11am at Assumption. Burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
