Peter Bobeda Obituary

Longtime Watsonville resident Peter Bobeda passed away on January 8, 2021. He was 99 years old and lived a very full life.

Peter was the son of Spanish-American immigrants and spent his early years working in the orchards alongside his parents and siblings.

Pete served in World War II from early 1944 till the War's end in 1945. He served with the 362 D. Infantry Regiment in the Appennines Mountains in Northern Italy as they heroically took military control of the Po Valley. He was a recipient of several medals of valor.

Pete met Dolly Bradley in 1949 and two months later they got married. She was his wife and sweetheart for almost 72 years.

Pete did janitorial work for awhile, then switched to the Watsonville Post Office where he worked as a clerk for 26 years, from 1958 to 1984. After he retired, he and Dolly went on beautiful cruises on tropical azure seas as well as vacationing in Spain, Portugal and Italy. They also had a ball going places in their RV and getting together with "The Hub Club.

Pete was a good man that everyone liked. He was lovingly devoted to Dolly in every way and he was laser focused on helping her with her health issues. He went the extra mile to give her a good quality of life. He loved her with all his heart and it showed. He also loved his children and he sacrificed a lot to provide for their needs.

Peter is survived by his wife Dolly of nearly 72 years; and his children Christine, Mike, Steve and Mark; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Antonio; his mother Maria; his siblings Virginia, Sebastian, Ceferino, John, Frank, Mary and Tony. His sister Ida is still living.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
