Chester Himes Obituary
Richmond - Chester L. Himes 68 after a long illness; went to be with his LORD May 19, 2018. He was born March 20, 1950 in Connersville to Willie and Letha Mae Roberts Himes and lived in this area all of his life.
He served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He was wounded in Vietnam and returned home in 1969.
He worked at Wayne Corp. for 20 years and then at Carpenter Bus Co. until they closed, he held several part time jobs and retired from SILGAN Containers in 2008.
He loved his family, fishing, hunting and vacations in Florida. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was a member of Living Faith Church of God and loved singing in church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Donna Himes, three children Lori (Brian) Powell of Richmond, Susan (Ron) Day of Richmond, Chad (Jessi Cole) Himes of Louisville, KY., seven grandchildren Brant Powell, Amanda Powell, Jordan Powell, Daryan Day, Gabrielle Day, Wyatt Himes, Hazel Himes, several, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Nancy Bobbitt and infant Florence Marie.
Services will be 1:00PM Friday May 25, 2018 at Living Faith Church of God with Pastors Allen Henderson and John Shepherd officiating; burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with military rites. Friends may call from 11:00AM to 1:00PM Friday at the church.

I worked with Chester for several years at Silgan. It was an honor and a privilege to work on the same line with such a wonderful man..a hardworking man that endured a lot.
