Frances JoAnn Comer

1933 - 2024

Frances JoAnn Comer, 90, of Bardin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Vintage Care in Palatka surrounded by her family. She was blessed to have a long and beautiful life.
JoAnn was born Dec. 26, 1933 in Branford, FL and attended Branford High School. She married the love of her life, Zannie Comer on May 7, 1951 and moved to Bardin 73 years ago, coming from Branford. Their marriage was blessed with four beautiful children and 56 years of love. Together they owned and operated a successful logging company, Comer Logging, for over 45 years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She loved to cook and bake and was especially known for her carrot cake. She loved being a grandma and a great-grandma and adored all of her grandkids. She also loved her "granddog," Tanner.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Palatka and before declining health she had ministered in the Relief Society. While living in Vintage Care she enjoyed the many planned activities for the residents.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Comer; four brothers, and a sister.
Surviving are two sons, Randy Comer (Lana) and Ricky Comer; a daughter, Connie Comer; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Comer; a sister, Catherine Baldwin; eight grandchildren, T.J. Comer (Carrie), Kristi McDonald, Josh McKinley (Kara), Tiffany Schuder (Karl), Jess Comer (Brooke), Wes Comer, Waylon Comer (Wendy), and Monika Klumpp (Dale); 20 grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Chaplain Jakie Carmicle, whom she loved as a son, and Bishop Jay Tilton officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at a later date in the Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin.
