Pamela Turner Obituary

Pamela Gay Turner passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, following a prolonged illness.
Pamela was born in Preston, Idaho, January 14, 1949. She was the first of 6 children born to Betty Arlene Valentine Turner and Donald Gail Turner. She moved with her family to Palatka, Florida, when she was 12, after her father passed away. At that time, she stepped in and became her mother's right hand and a second mom to her siblings.
Pam was a wonderful daughter and best friend to her mother. She was a loving sister, great friend and an extraordinary aunt. She left an indelible mark on all her nieces, nephews and their friends.
A friend told us recently that when he and his siblings do exceptionally nice things for each other, they call it "doing an Aunt Pam."
She was selfless and generous. Everything she had, and any experience she enjoyed, she wanted to share with those she loved. She helped foster positive characteristics for many by exemplifying unconditional love.
As a little girl, Pam would line up her dolls and play "school," so it was only natural that she grew up to go to Brigham Young University to study education and return to Palatka to teach for many years. She loved teaching and made a huge impact on her students and fellow teachers. Because of this she was honored more than once as teacher of the year. She also loved serving her Heavenly Father in numerous leadership and teaching positions as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
After 20 years of teaching, Pam moved to Houston, Texas, and then relocated to Charlottesville, VA, where she further enriched student's lives as a travel coordinator. She assisted in scheduling and coordinating trips to Washington, DC, and other destinations to give students a broader sense of the world. She was able to send many of her nieces and nephews on these trips over the years and they have great memories of all that they learned.
After retirement, she joined her mother in Orange Park, Florida. The next 15 years created big and small memories, new friends were made and reconnecting with old ones. She and her mother were inseparable and as avid readers, shared many a novel, watched their favorite shows and often drove to enjoy the ocean view in St Augustine.
They both spent the last few years in Fayetteville, Georgia, being cared for by brother, Donald and Sherry. Pam was also lovingly taken care of this year by her nurses (and friends) Sabrina Brooks and Jill Key.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Arlene Valentine Turner Hill of Fayetteville, GA; brothers, Donald Gail (Sherry) Turner Jr. of Fayetteville, GA, Terry Lynn (Laura) Turner of San Mateo, FL, John William (Julie) Turner of American Fork, UT, step-brother James E. Hill Jr of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and her sister, Becky Arlene (Mark) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; nieces, Julie, Gina, Zera, Journey, Tiffany, Brianne, Lindsay, Erin, Katelyn, Pamela; and nephews, David, Ryan, Joshua and Nathan.
Pam was preceded in death by her father, Donald Gail Turner; brother, David Lee Turner; step-father, James E. Hill; and step-brother, Joel LeGrand Hill.
A short service will be held in Preston, Idaho, Friday, July 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home with burial immediately following in the Preston Cemetery.
There will also be a memorial service for Pam in Fayetteville on Saturday, July 13, at noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints Chapel located at
