George BUCKNER Obituary

BUCKNER II, George Douglas George Douglas Buckner II, passed away suddenly on September 16, 2018 from a heart condition at the age of 56. He was a long time resident of the Palm Beach area, having attended Graham-Eckes/Palm Beach Academy and graduated from Lynn University. He was predeceased by his father George Douglas Buckner and his mother Joy McIntosh. He is survived by his step mother, Carole Manning with whom he shared a special bond and his two step-sisters Cristina Suarez and Mia Patch. Among George's noteworthy contributions to the community was his unswerving commitment in support of the Palm Beach County Boys and Girls Club, which was unparalleled. In addition he was a long standing usher at Bethesda-by-the-Sea. George was loved by his family and friends for his ability to make everyone feel welcome and special. He kept friends for life, touching everyone with his kindness. He was a remarkable generous spirit and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and called him a friend. To identify or quantify his extensive circle of friends would be a limitless task. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Palm Beach on Friday September 28, 2018 at 3:00PM and a reception will follow. A private graveside burial will take place at a following date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Boys and Girls Club in Memory of George.

My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. George made me feel like part of his family. He crosses my mind from time to time as I reflect on great times at the WPB Boys & Girls Club. He was so generous of his time and made sure the kids had a blast. The annual Day at the Ballpark and Halloween Carnival events were amazing. George was simply one of a kind.

I met George when I was 8 and he was 10 at the Beach club. He was always a nice and kind boy and later a man who always said hello and asked how I was doing. I saw George many times over the years and he was not only kind, but genuine. He always took the time to be present and supportive. We will all miss him and his kindness can inspire us to be our best.

It was my privilege to be George's music teacher at the Palm Beach Day School. In later years we connected at Bethesda By The Sea. George was a very special wonderful man. The Palm Beach community will greatly miss his friendship and good works. Linda Schumacher
