Addison Hines Obituary

ADDISON HINES A l ongtime Palm Beach resident and philanthropist, died, Sunday, June 29, 2003, at his home in Palm Beach. Addison was born in Chester, PA on October 18, 1928, the son of Addison Hines, Sr., an electrical engineer, and Pauline Powell Hines. Addison continued to reside in Chester where he became a successful real estate investor and a major importer of photography equipment and owner of a chain of photography stores. Addison moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in the early 1980's, became a resident of Palm Beach in the mid 1980's and continued to maintain homes in Philadelphia and Maryland.Throughout the years, Addison was active in numerous Palm Beach social and philanthropic organizations, including, amongst others, the Society of the Four Arts, Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, the American Red Cross of Palm Beach County, The Pundits of Palm Beach, The English Speaking Union, The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, The Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Philadelphia, the Palm Beach Council of theBoy Scouts, The Palm Beach Civic Association, The American Cancer Society of Palm Beach, where he was a member of the Board of Trustee's since 1995, Treasurer of the Board since 1997 and supporter of the Cancer Society's 19th HOLE club since 1992. Known for rapier wit and infectious sense of humor, Addison will be missed by his many Palm Beach friends. A Masonic Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL HOME, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, conducted by Harmonia Lodge #138 F.&A.M.
