Boyd Coddington Obituary
Car-building legend Boyd Coddington, whose testosterone-injected cable TV reality show "American Hot Rod" introduced the nation to the West Coast hot rod guru, has died. He was 63.
Coddington died at Whittier's Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday. Coddington's La Habra office spokeswoman Amanda Curry wouldn't disclose the cause of death.
Coddington, who started building cars when he was 13, set a standard for his workmanship and creativity, with his popular "Cadzilla" creation considered a design masterpiece. The customized car based on a 1950s Cadillac was built for rocker Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

I just learned about Boyd's work today. I saw a picture of CadZZilla linked on a Facebook page and started searching. WOW! His art lives on. My condolence to his family and friends.

Just learned of Boyds death now, 8 years later. I am and will continue to be a fan of American Hot Rods. Mr. Coddington still provides me with many hours of entertainment.

You were so dam good at what you did god called on you to come and build his. I bet it was one heck of a burnout going through the gates. Sometimes as adults we make up things to explain to kids what something is or means a little fib, from now on those puffy white clouds will be Boyd Coddingtons burnout in the sky.

Was shocked and saddened by the death of Boyd, he truely was one of a kind, and a remarkable designer of one of a kind rods. He will be missed terribly.

I hope that Boyd's family get a chance to read my small note. I recently moved to Sweden and in my search for a job I found myself watching a program everyday in teh morning here. Boyd's show brought a regular injection of fun, ambition and energy to my morning whilst I looked for a job. Boyd was a close friend for 35 years. He was good to us, and our 2 sons. We will miss him very much. He helped our business letting my husband show his talent. Boyd trusted his input.
