David DICKERSON Obituary

DICKERSON, David Dewitt
David Dewitt Dickerson, born in Tennessee in 1956, David moved to Florida when he was 13. He passed away on December 24, 2016 after a short battle with leukemia. David had a love for life like no other. He was a dedicated son, loving and loyal husband, passionate father and a truly great friend. His charismatic character, contagious laugh, sense of humor, work ethic and community leadership were an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know David. He established North Atlantic Electric in 1982. Through hard work, leadership and building strong relationships with clients and industry peers, Dave built the company into a highly respected local business. North Atlantic will continue as one of Dave's many legacies as he had already begun transition plans for his retirement. Dave was known in many walks of life. His love of fishing, boating, and diving and countless trips to the Bahamas, Boca Grande, Steinhatchee and the Florida Keys led to a strong and large circle of friends. He was involved with the West Palm Beach Fishing Club and looked forward every year to competing in the Sailfish Derby. His love for God and his involvement with Jupiter First Church blessed another group of people with his friendship. Dave was a Boy Scout as a young man and continued that tradition for his son Dylan. He was a Boy Scout Leader and spent countless weekends camping over the past 10 years. Troop 173 was a big part of his life; his positive attitude, general goodness and lifestyle served as a positive role model for both the boys and their parents. He hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2015 and 2016 serving as a leader for a group of scouts and adults. Dylan was able to accompany him on the 50 mile hike this year. Waiting for Dave in heaven are his mother Peg "Ollie Mae" and sister Peggy Ann. He is survived by his father Erby Dickerson, his wife Donna, son Dylan and brother Dickie "Erby Jr.". A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00AM at Jupiter First Church, 1475 Indian Creek Pkwy, Jupiter, FL. Donations can be made in Dave's honor to either Boy Scouts of America (Gulfstream Council), West Palm Beach Fishing Club, or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.

One of my dearest friends. He was a great lead trumpet player and musician. Attended music school with Dave. Some of my best belly laughs were because of Dave's great sense of humor. RIP Brother. Until we meet again.

Donna, Dylan and Family
I just found out this morning 2/3. I am so, so sorry. I would see Dave periodically out and about and we would catch up on family. My heart aches for you and although I haven't been around you guys much in past few years, Dave is someone I will always consider a good friend.
My prays are with you.
I know Dave is up there teaching the Big Guy how to fish with Ballyhoo ... like he taught me.

Dear Dylan, Donna and Family, It was so shocking and sad to hear of Dave's passing. He was my favorite customer. We have son's that are only 3 months apart in age. I got to talk to Dave all the time when I would answer the business phone and Dave never failed to ask me how my son was doing. We would exchange stories of the cute, funny and dumb things they were doing as they grow up. Dave would always make me smile or laugh. He was pleasant, positive, and optimistic. The world was a better place to have him for such a short time.
God Bless your family, he will be missed.

My brother-in-law was a rock for the whole family and loved life more than anyone I know. He also lived it passionately and compassionately and especially loved being a father. Grieving with Dylan and Donna and holding them in our hearts and prayers.

I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Dave. No matter what he did, he did it well. I have so many great memories of our time together in college, working together as musicians, and our last get together at the "garlic " in New Smyrna Beach where we had such a nice time with his family, Donna and Dylan along with many other friends. Everyone will miss Daves great sense of humor and quick wit.RIP my friend. We shall meet again.

Donna and Family:
I am so sorry to hear about Dave's passing. Every Thanksgiving I remember the spirited football games we would have. He was a great guy that everyone liked, even this damn yankee. My heart goes out to you and yours, from me and linda.
