Eleanor APPLEMAN Obituary
1927 - 2013 Eleanor Lorraine (Cohen) Appleman, 85, of Hyannisport, MA, died peacefully on Thursday, August 1, following an illness. Ellie was the beloved wife of the late Albert Appleman, who died in 2001. Born in 1927 to Joseph and Elizabeth Cohen, she lived most of her life in the Springfield area. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1946. Her fondest memories were of time spent with her family and of working alongside her husband in his show promotions business. She also did catering for many years. She spent many happy times at her house in Hyannisport and loved the beach. Ellie is survived by her sons Ross (West Palm Beach, FL), Mark (Derry, NH), Jay and his wife Denise (Longmeadow, MA), Joseph and his wife Dianne (Sandwich, MA), Dean and his wife Diane (Jupiter, FL), and David and his wife Karen (Longmeadow, MA). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Joshua Appleman, Zachary Appleman, Scott Appleman, Rachel Appleman, Seth Appleman and his wife Melissa, Gregory Appleman and his wife Krista, Samuel Appleman, Allison Appleman, Melanie Appleman, Noah Appleman, Heath Appleman, Alisha Appleman, Megan Appleman, Jack Appleman, Benjamin Appleman and Andrew Appleman. Ellie leaves her sister Rita LaBel and her husband Allan of Delray Beach, FL and their children Alana and Ken and his wife Jennifer, several cousins and many friends. Ellie was a warm, outgoing person who loved to travel and meet people. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her in Longmeadow and Hyannisport, MA, and in Delray Beach, FL. There will be a service at Ascher Zimmerman Funeral Home, 44 Sumner Avenue, Springfield, MA on Monday at 11:00AM with burial immediately following at Kodimoh Cemetery, 366 Kings Highway, West Springfield, MA. On Monday evening at 5:30, her family will welcome anyone wishing to pay their condolences to a reception at Congregation B'Nai Torah, 2 Eunice Drive, Longmeadow, with a prayer service to honor her starting at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy in Springfield, MA, B'Nai Torah in Longmeadow, MA, or the American Lung Association.
