Fred Pfeifer Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

FRED PFEIFER July 29, 1928 -January 11, 2008 Let me tell you a few things I loved about my Dad. He was a talented pianist, he loved to read, he was very creative, and he loved to win. Most knew him to be a charming, interested conversationalist. He was a salesman his entire working career. As most who knew him and had dealings with him can attest, he was very good at it. He wasn't a saint, he could also be demanding and a royal pain. I am told he rarely let others see this side of him (apparently he saved it for those of us who could dish it out as well). There was a quiet reserve about him, and behind his sparkling eyes was intelligence and great wit. Throughout his life, he overcame some pretty big obstacles. He remained irreverent and amazingly positive until his passing. He is survived by three daughters: Meredith Reid, Marian Reeves, Elizabeth Pfeifer, and five grandchildren all of central New York; a sister, Judy Cassatt of Charleston, SC; a brother, Dave Pfeifer of Robbinsville, NC. He was predeceased by his son Skip. As I saw from my time in Florida this January, he had many incredible friends. I would like to acknowledge the many doctors and healthcare workers for their efforts. If you wish, please donate to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. I feel very grateful for the times I had with him, I will miss him every day. Your kind words of support, stories, and memories of him bolstered and enriched me. Thank you, Meredith Reid To express condolences and/or make donations Visit PalmBeachPost.com/obituaries

I knew Fred first in Syracuse, as Janice Smith, and then in Florida as Janice Stearns. I also knew his Mother and Father, Marion & Fred, who were friends of my parents, Doris and Walter Smith. May he rest in peace with his family now; he will be missed. Janice Stearns
