Frederick DAHLMEIER Obituary

DAHLMEIER,
Frederick Mark
Frederick Mark Dahlmeier, age 70, passed away on March 6, 2017. He was born in Sisseton, SD to Helen Herges and Willis Dahlmeier. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Ames, IA. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He met his wife Jane Gormley while at Iowa. They moved to Palm Beach County after graduation in 1969 when he accepted a job as a design and instrumentation engineer with Pratt & Whitney. Fred had an interest in the law and attended the University of Florida College of Law. While in law school he was an Executive Editor of The Florida Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. Fred received his J.D. with honors in 1972 and returned to Palm Beach County, where he practiced law for 44 years until his retirement in 2016. His primary focus was real estate, where he handled numerous land transactions in the development of Northern Palm Beach County. Fred was an avid bird hunter, in his youth hunting with his father in the Midwest and then with his son airboating and hunting ducks on Lake Okeechobee. He also enjoyed diving, fishing, spearfishing and boating, and spent most summers cruising the Bahamas with family and friends. Fred is survived by his wife Jane of 49 years, son Mark (Kimberly), daughter Allison Davis (George), grandchildren William and Katherine Dahlmeier, brother John of Minneapolis, MN, sister Suzanne Rhomberg of Bryan, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. We were fortunate to have Fred in our lives and he will be greatly missed. A memorial gathering will take place on Monday, March 13 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 754 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.

We were friends since attending the University of Iowa, where we shared an apartment. Even though we live in Washington state, at opposite ends of the United States, Fred and Jane were always in our thoughts. Through the years, we enjoyed hearing of their family life and fun. We will miss Fred. Our sincere sympathy to the Dahlmeier family.

As our children were in school together, I would meet the Dahlmeier family at school functions and sport activities. Fred was always a genial fella, with an obvious interest and love for his family. My condolences on your loss, may you find peace in your loving memories.

I enjoyed working with your father on several cases. He was insightful and thoughtful in his approach to a problem and had a delightful sense of humor and twinkle in his eye which tempered the edge that many lawyers bring to the practice. we will miss him in the legal community very much.
