Gertrude Maxwell you were a wonderful inspiration to all of us that truly love all animals.Even though we never met we talked so many times on the phone rescuing and placing lost animals that would otherwise end up abandoned and homeless.I am so glad to have worked with you and your spirit and love of animals will live with me always. We have to be advocates for those who can not speak. As a young girl growing up with a mother and grandmother who cared deeply for all animals and helped pass legislation in behalf of all animals,I hope that I can make a difference like Gertrude and both of them did. May you RIP and all my thoughts and prayers go out to your husband and family. Save A Pet will continue long into the future with Gods help and lovers of all animals.

Thank you Gertrude for always asking for my help; She' d say 'You know how to get the word out young lady....Ok what can you do for this little guy?" holding her newest pet rescue. She was always at the picnic table at Channel 12 waiting to tell her story. We all loved her. Terry Lee Kaly, Director of National Events and Membership, American Humane Association

What a remarkable testament she was to the belief that all creatures great and small should be revered as ‘angels’ on earth, charged with passing along the message of the love of our Father in Heaven.....May she eternally rest in peace in the company of all the multitude of little 'angels' whose lives she somehow touched.

I never met Mrs. Maxwell but knew of her and her strong support of Animal rights. As an animal lover I idolized Mrs. Mawell. I was in hopes of meeting her one day and telling her face to face how much of an inspiration she was. She was an extraordinary woman and I am positive her legacy will live on and she will be remembered. RIP Mrs. Maxwell!!!

When we started Save-A-Pet as a founding member in Highland Park, Illinois, I knew Gertrude was a very special person on a mission to create one of the first non kill shelters in the United States. We can give thanks to this unique individual for starting a trend that the whole country has adopted. There was only one Gertrude and she will be deeply missed!

Mrs. Maxwell was remarkable and thoughtful and determined to be the voice of all the homeless animals. She fought for "animal rights". She wanted no-kill shelters and adoption to become the only alternatives.
There are thousands of pets bringing joy and fun and to thousands of families and homes now... where there was none before... Thank You Gertrude Maxwell. I will miss you. Your Friend.

Gertrude Maxwell was the voice for so many homeless animals in Palm Beach County. I was a member of and a contributor to the Save-A-Pet foundation for many years, and she was always passionate and dedicated to saving homeless animals from death in high-kill shelters. The animals lost an angel today, but she is in heaven with all of those gentle animals she saved. The stars will shine brighter in heaven with her presence.

Gertude Maxwell was an inspiration to all animal lovers, I am sad to hear of her passing. She will never be forgotten. I first met with Gertrude way back in 1981, when my dog found 4 tiny kittens in Dreer Park Zoo. This was way before Paws2Help was even thought of, I was just an unknown person that Gertrude reached out to and yet saved the lives of 4 tiny kittens. A lady of quality and charm with a huge heart for all animals.
She achieved the "impossible", which has and I hope still will inspire others who know that all lives are precious. god bless Gertude, and may her work continue long into the future. Eve, founder of Paws2Help.
