Gisela Wacker Obituary
Gisela H. Wacker, of Hobe Sound, Florida, passed away on December 10, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, after suffering from a stroke. With great sorrow, her family shares the news of her death but also remembers her beautiful and remarkable life. Gisela was born on November 19, 1939, in Wurzen, Germany, to the late Erwin and Hildegard Krusche. As a young woman, she escaped from East Germany to West Germany, fleeing the communist regime, and was a strong, brave individual in all respects. Gisela moved to the United States in 1964. In 1976, she moved to Jupiter, FL. Gisela spent the remainder of her years in Hobe Sound, FL, with her late husband, Kenneth Wacker. She retired after a long career as a bookkeeper for the engineering firm of LBFH, Inc. She was a longstanding member of the American German Club of the Palm Beaches. Every year, Gisela looked forward to Oktoberfest, where she could be found wearing her dirndl and happily manning a booth; and visiting the Christkindlmarkt with family, where she especially loved perusing the German-made ornaments for Christmas gifts. Gisela traveled extensively, and often returned to Germany and other parts of Europe. She also enjoyed Las Vegas and cruising, including a cruise through the Panama Canal. She appreciated music, and in particular loved Elvis Presley and Julio Iglesias, as well as football, and her favorite quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Gisela was an incredible cook, and treasured cooking for her family and sharing traditional German dishes. A wonderful friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she filled her home with warmth and kindness. Christmas Eve was her favorite holiday, and she made the day so special for her family each year.
Gisela was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Wacker. She is survived by her son Steven Hoher and his wife Victoria Rogerson, and her daughter Christina Frost and her husband Steven Frost. She also leaves three grandchildren who affectionately called her Omi: Ellen Hoher, James Hoher, and Nicole Cappellano and her husband Joao Cappellano; and a beloved great-grandson Luca Cappellano. Gisela's love and indomitable spirit will always be with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Gisela's name.
