Grant LARSON Obituary

LARSON, Grant
Grant Larson, of Palm City, FL, who charged "a quarter or a kiss" to wiggle his ears for his four giggling daughters but charged nothing to fix faucets for his neighbors, died Thursday, April 20, 2017, after a short-but-long battle with cancer. He was 69. For 40 years, Grant built a local plumbing business on integrity in Martin and Palm Beach Counties. For 49 years, he showed his daughters how to love people and persevere through trials. And for 69 years, he exemplified what it means to live an authentic life. He walked his own path, and he was good at it. A man of few words, he lived life instead of talking about it. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Grant was a straight-shooter. Quit talking about it. Just live it. It took a lifetime for him to reach eternity. And although it's too soon for those who knew him -- whether for seven decades or seven minutes -- he is Home safe and sound. He overcame seemingly impossible odds here on earth, and now the Lord has brought him Home. Born November 8, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Floyd "Pat" and Adeline "Petey" Larson, Grant grew up in Newport Beach, CA, where he played sports, tinkered with cars and sat on the couch wiggling his ears for his siblings. In his early 20s, he moved with his growing family (including his then-wife, Diana) to Kooskia, ID, then Craigmont, ID, where he was a hard-working husband, father and logger. After a chainsaw accident that nearly severed his arm, Grant, Diana and their four daughters moved to Stuart, FL, in 1978, where he started Grant's Plumbing. Grant is survived by daughters Michelle Watson (Brad) of Meridian, ID, and children Jake Watson and Kelsey Watson; Karen Frazier of Winchester, ID, and children Liz Ricci and Josh Frazier; Stacy Larson of Lewiston, ID, and son Joel Larson; and Catherine Patterson (Chuck) of Craigmont, ID, and sons Caleb Patterson and Cole Patterson; siblings David Larson of Stuart, FL, Don (Cindy) Larson of Placerville, CA, Kristi (Rich) Church of Placerville, CA, Barb Larson of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Pam (Dean) Staley of Loveland, CO, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Pat Quinn and many more friends who considered him family. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his close friend Sandy Kelley. For Dad, life was simple. Work hard, live with integrity, and enjoy it. And do him a favor, would ya? Please join us for a Celebration of Life at Sandsprit Park in Stuart on Thursday, April 27, at 5:00PM. Bring your favorite stories, a lawn chair and maybe a fishing pole. Arrangements entrusted to Martin Funeral Home, Stuart, FL. Online condolences may be made at www.martin-funeral.com

Hello and my sincere condolences to you and your wonderful family. My name is Bruce Gaul. I attended your father's celebration of life and sandsprit park. I could tell instantly that everybody loved Grant. On the many occasions that I met him I can tell he was a gentle soul and a loving father. Just like your family I lost my father on March 3rd of 2017. When we look back on the good times and the bad it's all about the good times. The three things I learned from my father was love dignity and respect. And I could see that in each and every one that attended his services at the beautiful Park in Stuart Florida. Best wishes and strong thoughts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Larson Family. Although I have never met any of you, we have known Grant for over 20 years of working with all of us in one way or another. He was a kind and gentle soul, and we will miss him. He was always available when any of us needed anything, and my son Nick relied on him for making sure the jobs were done right. May God Bless Him, and may he Rest in Peace.
Sincerely,
Sharon Raich, Nick Raich and the whole Raich Family

Grant this is for you, as I keep trying to send you a message...as you know. I want to thank you for welcoming me into your and Diana's home when I was such a young adult; I want to thank you for your contagious laugh and smile; thank you for the love you shared with your family and
friends; thank you for helping me get my first car..the VW that I later sold to your little sis, Barb (remember how you ran to Save her as the steering wheel fell off into her arms?); I
want to thank you for stopping me and saying, "Susie! get back here and wash that stinky perfume off!, you smell like a "*~#>%!*!!!"; And dear Grant, thank you mostly for being you. As my parents and your parents welcome you with open arms to join them on your glorious venture, know that we will all reunite with you one day. God bless you...we love and miss you...
