Helen Lenore Reinach Skylar, 91, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away peacefully in her home on July 5, 2018. She was preceded in death by Allan Skylar, her husband of 63 years, parents Maurice and Irma Reinach, brother Maxwell, and sister Rosemarie. Helen is survived by daughter Sheryl, son Robert and his wife Lisa, grandchildren Jessica and Katherine, whom she adored, along with Jessica's husband John, their three children, and nephew Ron Schwartz and his wife Terry. Helen also leaves behind her unexpected late-in-life sweetheart, Jack Roseberry. Helen was born on September 15, 1926 in New York City. She was raised in Manhattan and attended Barnard School for Girls in Washington Heights, and Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, New York. In 1946, on her 20th birthday, Helen married Allan D. Skylar at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Helen was a positive, interested, loving wife, mother, and friend. She was lovely, graceful, and kind. She was respected and loved because of her generosity and thoughtfulness. Helen was always laughing and smiling. She lived a happy life full of love, family, and so many friends. Helen loved to stay physically and mentally active. She played tennis, bridge, and canasta. She was an inveterate reader of books and The New York Times, and a lover of movies. When talking with Helen, she really listened because she was truly interested. Positivity, grace, and kindness were the hallmarks of her full and happy life. Never a complainer, Helen always looked for an opportunity to find joy. Her humility, dignity, and self-effacing nature endeared her to everyone she knew. No service will be held. Less than two weeks before she died, Helen hosted a party at home to thank her friends and family for all the good times they shared. Special thanks to Dee, for years of friendship and help with home projects, and to Herna and Rose for their loving care in Helen's last weeks. Thank you also to Sherry, her hospice nurse, who ensured her comfort and dignity during her last days. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Our Sister's Place in Tequesta, Florida (
oursistersplace.org), an organization dear to her heart where Helen volunteered for many years.
