Helga KEHAYA Obituary

KEHAYA, Helga Luise

Helga Luise Kehaya, 78, of Jupiter Island, passed away quietly at home on September 17, surrounded by her family. Wife of the late Ery Whitaker Kehaya, she is survived by her son, Mark Kehaya, his wife Hannah, and two grandchildren, Mary Louise and Ery. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Karin Paz PeNa De Vire, and nephew Bernardo, step-son Whit Kehaya, his wife Sharon, and their children James, Julian, Robert and Alex, and step-daughter Lisa Kehaya. Helga was born in Rendsburg, Germany on October 17, 1934. Growing up during WWII left lasting memories that she shared with her family over the years. Prior to working at the Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg, where she met her lifelong love, Ery, she lived and worked in both England and Switzerland. Throughout their life together, she supported her husband in building Standard Commercial Corporation, as a helpmate, hostess and sounding board. After residing and raising their son in Grosshansdorf, Germany , Helga moved to Florida with her husband in 1983, where she felt particularly embraced by the friends she met on Jupiter Island. Helga is known for her warmth and philanthropy. She had special interest in supporting Duke University, St Paul's School, Asheville School, St Andrews College, and various local charities. A service celebrating her life will take place on November 26 at 4:00, at Christ Memorial Church on Jupiter Island. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to Christ Memorial Church, PO Box 582, Hobe Sound, FL 33475.
