Howard WAITE Obituary
Dr. Howard Waite passed away May 16, 2014. A resident of Palm Beach County since the mid-1940s, he was a local veterinarian with a passion for exotic animals. This love led him to help establish Dreher Park Zoo (Palm Beach Zoo). As its first director and founding member of the Zoological Society, he helped keep the zoo open during its early years. He was also an award-winning wildlife artist and part-time author. He is preceded by his wife Catherine "Kitty" Waite and daughter Wendy Stout. Dr. Waite is survived by his children George "Geoff" Waite (Ginger), Alissa Waite Visser (Bert), and Christopher Waite; grandchildren Adam, Tom, Laura, Justin, and Lilly; and three great grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 310 N. Olive Avenue in West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Palm Beach Zoo in his honor or an animal-related charity of your choice.

Geoff, Alissa and Chris, I was so saddened to hear of your father's death. He and your mother were a wonderful part of our family's life...He, not only as our vet forever, but your parents also, as friends.
Remember the Halloween parties? The wonderful stories and memories we recall! I pray God replaces the ache in your hearts with the treasured times you had with your parents. With deepest sympathies, but fond memories...

Dr. Waite took care of our German Shepherd (Blazer) in the early 1960's. He loved animals and was very kind.

Dr. Waite took care of our Boston Terrier for many years. My Dad, Dr. Dan Rowe always spoke so highly of him and the care he gave. Please accept my condolences.
