Upon graduating Catholic Central High School he joined the Navy where he served on a destroyer for four years during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the Navy he enrolled at Ohio State University. They were blessed with three daughters, Karen, Kim and Kris. The Krumholtz family has been active in the community for 45 years. His passion was seen in everything he did and was exemplified by his dedication to his Orthodontic practice and improving the lives of those he served. His love for his family is unmeasured. Affectionately known as "Doctor Krum Dum" in our house, named that by my father, a dental colleague and close friend, here in Boca. Jim had many roles in my young life here! I never needed braces, but I babysat for the Krumholtz´s daughters when they were babies. My mother and Gayle were friends and served on various committees together in the early days of Boca Raton. Later, when my own daughter needs braces, I couldn´t imagine having anyone else treat her! He lived life large!! I share his love for the ocean and the activities he enjoyed! He continues to be missed here by those who loved him and those he cared for!!

Dr. Krumholtz was my mom´s orthodontist, along with my sister and I. He remembered my mom after 30 years and he truly touched hearts, minds, and spirits like no other. His spirit and personality lit up the room because of him, I cherish my smile most. Dr. K was a man you cannot forget in all the most wonderful ways. He will always be missed. I might just be another one of Dr. Krumholtz's patients, but when I heard he had moved on... I couldn't help but burst into tears, even though I was at band practice. Never have I met a man with such passion for his work and who receives so much joy from just making others smile. He passed his smile on to me, and so many others. I just want to say thank you Dr. Krumholtz. You gave me the confidence I needed to be successful in high school, and I hope that i can pass your smile on to many others. I will remember you for the rest of my life. :)

I remember meeting Jim Krumholtz for the first time in a Yoga class and thinking what a nice and gentle man he was. He then became the orthodontist for both my children, Sammie and Alec, and treated them with great skill and warmth. I was greatly saddened to hear of his passing and send my condolences to his family. He was a lovely and charming man.

Dearest Gail and Family,
I was in Australia about to speak before the World Federation of Orthodontists when I received the call from Joe Lunsford of Jim's passing. I was so shocked and shaken up that I couldn't make many sensible sentences in my talking for about 15 minutes. Later I had a good bunch of tears as I remembered Jim throughout the years. I had no idea that he was fighting cancer and perhaps that was the shock value.
Jim was really the "uncommon man" who never lost the passionate child within him. Not only was he into excellence in his profession, but he was always searching for knowledge in every aspect of his life and then he was anxious to share and teach with all of his admirers and friends. He was a perfect study club member as he would always update us on what he was studying. He was a true friend and a gentleman. He was a "Giver and a Helper" He was also a great listener and we will miss him deeply.
This Progressive Study Club will be dedicated to Jim when we meet in Hawaii in 2 weeks and we will have a celebration of life in his honor.
Gail, Weedie and I are so sorry for your loss and we will hope to catch up with you soon. He will be missed by the profession of orthodontics and all of his friends and patients. We hope to see you in the near future and would love it if you can come to future study club meetings.

Lots of love,
Tom and Weedie Pitts

My sincere symphathies are with the Krumholtz family. Having known Karen professionally, I was not too suprised to see what a great dad she had. My kids and I enjoyed interacting with him at his office. He was also so good to the community. He was so generous with Boca Hoops, Boca Helping hands and his "Krumholtz Orthodontics" banners hang in every school I've visited in the area. He will be missed by many. His memorial service was lovely. Take Care-Jill Conrad

We extend our sincere condolences to Dr. Krumholts's family and staff. He was an amazing man and he touched many lives. He was such a kind, caring and warm individual. We will miss his smile and kind word. He was our orthodontist for our 4 children for over 10 years. Our children never complained about having to visit him. He was a true professional who wasn't afraid to be silly or spunky. His office staff is a refection of him. Always smiling, caring and professioal. We will surely miss him and feel blessed to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who knew him.

The loss of someone so close is difficult to bear. We share your grief.

February 9, 2010

Dear Krumholtz family,

I has been almost 10 years since Dr K removed our daughter's braces and we left Boca. However, we never forgot Dr K. I have shared with so many how wonderful Dr K is, his incredible practice, and how much fun it was to go to the orthodontist! Not many people can look forward to having their braces tightened! We even had a song we sang about Dr K! Visiting his office was like visiting with family!

Our family is so sad to hear of Dr. K's passing. We are so thankful to have known him, for his love and passion for people and his work, and for all he did to help our family.

"The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

I was shocked to hear of Dr. K's passing. In reading all these wonderful tributes to him, I must truly say he was completely deserving of every word.

My son, Paul, presented a particular challenge to his orthodontic skills. His insight and caring ways produced not only a great outcome, but a relationship like best buddies; full of jokes, smiles and, yes, trust. He touched our whole family, who looked forward each New Year's Eve to his Movie Extravaganza's at the Palace, where the best attractions were his bright, blue eyes and gleaming smile as he would greet us in his tuxedo and top hat!

Personally, I have to say this, I don't think I've ever met as successful a human being as this man. He exuded a glowing love for everyone, a beaming smile, a sense of comfort, understanding and safety; I'd have to say it was God's love shining through him in every kind act, generous gesture, and intelligent application of his talent. Someone here wrote a comparison to George Bailey...more than that, he has left his own unique character's imprint, deserving his own legend- in the world of charity, the world of compassion and, most of all, in the worlds of our hearts, where we hold him close and remember a man to revere, one who made a sterling example for us all, one who made his own name a legend in his time, our dear "Dr. K".

His legacy of love should shine through all the beautiful smiles he fashioned for us. So, remember him and smile, though our hearts are breaking- just smile...

God is.

With sincere sympathy,

Dear Krumholtz family,

I'm immensely sorry for the loss of Dr. K. But you should surely know that he is with God for his kind acts on Earth.
The first day I met Dr. K he took my hand and looked me into the eyes. He told me (after seeing my x-rays)"We are going to be friends for a very long time, Renee." Since then it has been over 6 years of knowing a great doctor. Every appointment no matter any pain in my mouth I was always happy.
My favorite part of the appointment was always when Dr. K came over to check me. When he smiled you couldn't help but to smile back. It was contagious!
As Kristina Kostkas said, we once saw Dr. Krumholtz at the beach lying upside down on a dune with his hat over his head. He once looked up to find me sitting near him, with my family. We chatted for a long time listening to his stories which were extremely funny.
For changing my life forever I thank you Dr. Krumholtz for every smile, laugh, and appointment. I owe my smile to you :)
I greatly appriciate and love you.
Thank you and God bless your family.

To the Krumholtz family,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dr. K was one of the best people I had the pleasure of meeting. I was a patient of his for many years, and still am to this day. It was always such a pleasure to have a visit at his office. The world needs more people like him.
I am so saddened by the news.
I have my Dr. Krumholtz shirt and the picture with him the day I got my braces off. I will cherish it forever. Dr. K was so special! I love you Dr. Krumholtz! You never failed to make me smile.
My family saw him at the beach once, laying in the sand, expressing his love for life. God Bless him!

Forever missing you!

February 7, 2010

Dr. Krumholtz Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Dr. K was more than just an orthodonist, he was a caring and loving man. He knew each one of his patients by name and was genuinely interested in their lives. My children, although done with braces, still enjoyed going in for a checkup because they enjoyed seeing Dr. K. He will be greatly missed. Thank you for sharing him with all of us.

Our family will deeply miss Dr. Krumholtz.. He was a very kind, caring and compassionate man who loved to see everybody smile. He was the only one who could convince my son to wear his head gear, told him it will help get more oxygen to his brain and make him smarter. Thanks Dr. K for being you, you were truly a great man. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends . He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

This is a shock to us. Dr. Krumholtz was the kindest Dr. I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My niece was petrified of going to an orthodonic. The day we went into his office to check him out, she was very nervous and shaking. He held her hand and told her that he would make her more beautiful than she already was. She didn't get sick to her stomach, and the rest was history. He gave her a new look on life, made her smile more, her teeth were made perfect, and confidence restored. He was a truly wonderful man, always pleasant and really enjoyed his profession. He was an asset to the orthodonic profession. He was never cold, rude, prideful or arrogant. He was a truly blessed man.

To the Krumholtz Family,
I can not remember seeing Jim without a beaming smile on his face. He was the personification of cheerfulness. And this is understandable since he enjoyed life to the fullest whether practicing orthodontics, engaing with friends and family, participating in some community service, or riding the waves on his windsurfer. He lived life to the highest ideals, both personally and professionally and was widely loved and respected for it.
It was always a pleasure to see Jim and chat with him at our South Florida Academy of Orthodontists and FAO meetings. I always admired his commitment to life-long continuing education and his dedication to maintaining a first class practice. He seemed eternally young, young-at-heart and would practice forever, which is why I am particularly shocked and saddened today.
I express my deepest sympathies and condolences in this time of grief to all his immediate and extended family members.

We are honored to have a long history with a great person; Dr. James Krumholtz. He was the first dentist to visit our new and then small office in 1982 giving us the support and wishing us the success. He was the first to encourage us in our indifferent practice of TMD when many people doubted us. He was a mentor, colleague, and above all nice person to share with him our experience. Our professional relationship extended for a long time helping many patients not only for good look but also to feel good. Dr. Krumholtz was an excellent and generous clinician who wanted to share his knowledge with other colleagues in the entire world as he put his extensive experience in a book; Epi -genetics in orthodontics. He gave me the honor and pleasure to review this book that will be guidance to many generations of orthodontists and dentists to help their patients. With my deepest sympathy to his family, friends, colleagues and patients.

How can someone who provided services to so many people remember each of us at every visit as though we meant something special to him? An amazing and important gift. I will remember you Dr. K when I brush my teeth and see 3 of my children smile their Krumholz smiles. But mostly I will remember your warmth and your compassionate humanity and how you touched my soul with your kindness. Farewell my friend.
Love and sympathy to Dr. K's dedicate staff and to his family.

I worked for Dr K over 20 years ago and to this day I still value all the knowledge, respect, warmth and appreciation he showed me and all those who knew him. I look at my smile, which he created, and am so thankful for knowing such a wonderful man who had an infectious "zest for life" attitude. He will be greatly missed and my deepest sympathies go out to his family and staff.

I worked for Dr Krumholtz for a short time in the late 60's and have never forgotten what a really decent man he was. He has often crossed my mind over the years for just that reason, and I have called him my first best boss! May his soul rest in peace and may all those that loved him find that peace as well...

Dr. Krumholtz was not just a boss to me, but one of the most warm, caring, compassionate people I have ever worked for. The morning huddles we had started days with prayer, laughter and lots of love and hugs all around. He guided us with family and personal issues stressing vitamins, eating and exercise. I will miss him skipping through the operatory singing "life is just a bowl of Cherries". As a Team we laughed, we cryed, we prayed, we shared stories and we made many, many wonderful memories together. Thank you for bringing Dr. Statler into our lives to continue the "Krumholtz/Statler Orthodintic tradition"! I will miss and love you always. Kathy Spute (Boca)

Dr. K was not just a great orthodontist, but also a wonderful human being. His kindness, compassion, sense of humor and enthusiasm for life made people want to be around him! He didn't just take care of his patients; he also took care of his community...with constant support of his local schools and sponsorship of local youth sports teams, donations to charities, etc. He was Boca Raton's very own George Bailey (from It's A Wonderful Life). I know that this is a time of great sadness for the Krumholtz family, but I hope it will ease your sorrow a little to know that Dr. K was so loved by his patients, so highly esteemed by his colleagues and peers, and so appreciated by the recipients of his generosity and kindness. Thank you, Dr. K, for giving our son his beautiful smile! We will forever treasure the photo you took with him the day you removed his braces...what a wonderful legacy it is to not only give people beautiful smiles, but to actually MAKE them smile whenever they're with you!

Dr. Krumholtz was such an amazing person. My son Justin & I always had such a high level of respect and loyalty to him. He had the same birthday as Justin and it was always a joke between us. Dr. K. moved more than teeth, He moved thousands of lives, by championing the best in each one of us. Dr. K's life was a daily celebration of loving kindness, compassion, belief and abundant positivity that can only be measured in epic proportions.

My life has been forever changed by Jim. In our work together he demonstrated such faith in my abilities helping producing videos, his book, marketing and educational materials, so much,... That I felt they far surpassed my own. To have someone such as Dr. Krumholtz see the best in us before we can, and hold the vision of our success, is truly one of life's rarest and greatest blessings.

I know for a fact that his wisdom, sincerity, passion and drive to help us all activate our highest potential has helped to actually shift the consciousness, and genetic potential of our planet. That's how big his heart is!

Dr. James A. Krumholtz I salute you with all the love in my heart and pray the peace, health and blessings of your life gifted us all with, will add and multiply infinitely in our world, and shine as big as your smile did, every single day of your wonder-filled life.

I love you with all my heart Jim. and my blessing go out to your wife Gail, your children and their families.

Dr. K was unbelievable, he never forgot a mouth or the person that surrounded it. I felt we were on the Krumholz annuity plan and was happy to be there. I have many happy memories and will continue to think about him for years to come. He certainly has a pass to go to a better place. His generousity will never be forgotten.

Dr. K was one of a kind. He made everyone he touched feel special, like each of us are a valuable gift from God. I have never run across anyone who managed his business like everyone involved was family (employees, patients, colleagues, etc.). Dr. K will always be remembered as a kind, happy and gentle soul. May his generous, loving spirit and love of life live on in his children, grandchildren, and his entire family. Dr. K touched each of us in a special way and I, for one, will never forget him.

How sad to hear about Dr K's passing. Our family has known and loved Dr K for 12years. He had a positive influence on us and so many others in the community. Yes, our smiles are more beautiful but what we learned most from him was how to live life with energy and enthusiasm. Dr K was a significant life force and will forever be remembered for all he has done for others. With love, The Lippmans (Boca Raton, FL)
